Remembering Sergeant Edgar Merrem of Moulton Texas
The remains of Sergeant Edgar Merrem arrived in Moulton Texas on May 28 1921 for final interment after a three year separation from battle in France. A large crowd honored the memory with a military burial at Liberty grounds under Kolar Stanck Post No 201. Merrem son of Mr and Mrs Farnest Merrem born August 25 1890 in Hallettsville married Leona Wagner on November 19 1912. He joined the army September 19 1917 trained at Camp Travis promoted to sergeant and left San Antonio with the 90th Division June 6 1918 for France. A letter from Captain Cobb recounts Merrem wounded September 13 and dying September 16 1918 while serving as gas defense NCO in Co M 860th Infantry. He is praised for cool courage and devotion to duty. Rev A F Rector assisted in funeral services with full military honors and hymns as the flag draped casket was laid to rest on native soil.

Twentieth Century Club Meeting Dinner and Lessons
The Twentieth Century Club gathered at Miss Mae Hughs home with a brief business session. Miss Billa Schramm led the civic lesson on federal government impeachment and Civil War outcomes. Guests enjoyed games of hearts. prizes included an angel food cake and linen ABC books for children, with a salad course, cream, and cake served.
