Roscoe Canon writes from Gibraltar July 12 describing arrival after leaving the Azores last Thursday. He notes 20 knot speeds, a fuel saving strategy, and a shore visit to Pont Delgada. He compares Portuguese town features and attire with American norms, mentions limited English among merchants, and references a nearby American YMCA. The letter promises continuation next week.
