The county saw Ferguson win a large gubernatorial vote, with about 3 000 to Ball's 400. John Buchanan lost county clerk to J. A. Sommerlatte, Rosenberg carried the county for State Senator, and Wagener was re elected commissioner. Official counts from various races show Ferguson ahead, and many other county offices re elected or swapped, with totals near the 3 500 range.

Mrs F F Koneeny died last Monday from complications after an operation in Cuero. The 53 year old widow, survived by her husband and eleven children, was brought to Shiner for burial. Funeral at the Catholic Church with interment in the Catholic cemetery on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. The family includes Millie Blued, Theresia Mikulik, Mary Madd, Fannie Becha, Frank, Joe, Felix, Adolph, Eddie, Emil and Willie Koneeny. Immigrant to Texas in 1881 from Austria Moravia. The Gazette offers sympathy.
Two daughters of Guarte Lupe Garcia, a 16 and a 4 year old, perished when their Peach Creek home burned on Sunday July 19. The older girl died Sunday night, the younger Monday morning. Bodies buried Monday at Moulton Catholic Cemetery. Guadalupe Garcia suffered serious arm burns.
Runge Texas July 22 a disastrous fire destroyed the Runge cotton seed oil mill and gin with the hullhouse and office building spared. Origin of fire unknown and the plant valued at 80 000 with 45 000 insured.
