Jim Petry obituary and funeral details remembered

The death of Jim Petry at age 78 is announced with his life devoted to family and faith. A Requiem High Mass at Sts Cyril and Methodius Church was led by Monsignor Netardus with pallbearers and a large burial procession in the Mt Olive area. Petry, born in Czechoslovakia, survived by his wife Annie Tomek and a large family including two sons and nine daughters, among 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild, is remembered as a faithful Christian and esteemed neighbor.

Shiner ISD calls August vote on tax and $20,000 bonds

Shiner Independent School District trustees announce an August 8 1938 election to approve a maintenance tax up to 85 cents per hundred and a 20 000 bond issue for an auditorium gymnasium funded 55 percent by the bond and 45 percent by a federal PWA grant.
