Lavaca County voters cast 6,290 in the Democratic primary with Miriam A. Ferguson carrying the county by a large majority. Dallas July 27 Mrs Miriam A Ferguson led Governor Sterling by 93 219 votes in the Democratic gubernatorial primary as counts show Ferguson with 346 658 to Sterling 253 , with Tom F Hunter a Wichita Falls oilman gaining 186 563. A large share of scattered 40 611 votes remained. Voters also weighed repeal or retention of the Eighteenth Amendment while Charles N Shaver led state superintendent race with 352 503 to L A Woods 387 872.
