Citation Awarded To Dr. P J Wagner at Shiner Clinic

John Ansohn of the University of Texas at Galveston presented a citation to Patrick J. Wagner M D for promoting the Physician's Assistant concept and aiding in education. The award was signed by medical and department leaders and notes involvement of Steven Herzig Pamela Engle in clinical preceptorship at Shiner Medical Facilities.

Winners Announced in Shiner Youth League Prizes

Contract Set For Highway Seal Coat Project

A pre construction meeting in Yoakum outlined a seal coat project awarded to Brannan Contractors Inc of Victoria. The $1,012,180.94 contract covers Calhoun Colorado De Witt Gonzales Jackson Lavaca Victoria and Wharton counties. Work begins July 7 1977 and should finish by late August with 214 miles resurfaced and traffic managed by signs barricades and flagmen.

New Telephone Directories to Be Delivered Beginning July 8

Southwestern Bell will start delivering the 1977 telephone directories to Flatonia Hallettsville Moulton Shiner and Yoakum customers on Friday July 8 with completion expected by mid July. The cover art titled Royal Family by Warren Martin of Ingram depicts near the birth of a golden eagle. Distribution faces a paper shortage and will place one directory for most residential subscribers with more than one line. business folders distributed by usage.

Wildcats Clinch Community Baseball League Title Over Clippers

The Flatonia Wildcats defeated the Shiner Clippers in two straight games to win the league finals. Flatonia won 17-3 in Shiner and 18-11 in Flatonia, totaling 35 runs to 23 hits for the Clippers. The four team league promoted local talent and drew greater fan interest.

Beef Referendum Vote Reminder in Lavaca County

Arthur G. Stratmann reminds registered beef producers of a July 5 to July 15 referendum on a beef research and information order. If over half vote and two thirds approve, a beef board of up to 68 producers will be appointed to collect and use assessments up to 0.5 percent of live animal value for beef research and information. Voting may be in person or by mail with ballots postmarked by July 15, 1977.
