Kaspar Weds Agnes Severson in Trinity English Lutheran Church

Paul L. Kaspar of Dallas formerly Shiner married Agnes Severson daughter of Mr and Mrs O W Severson at 8 pm Tuesday at Trinity English Lutheran Church. Pastor W F Klindworth officiated. Church decor featured palms smilax and gladioli. Reception at bride’s parents home followed. The couple plans a South Texas and Mexico trip then return to Dallas and later head to Florida.

Kuentzel to Modernize Shiner Gin Plant This Summer

Chas Kuentzel of Chicago arrived mid June to take charge of his newly purchased gin property from H. C. Miller. He expects his wife by month’s end and plans to make Shiner their permanent home. Miller notes the gin plant is being thoroughly overhauled to be in first class shape when the season opens.

Marriage Of Freeport Couple Pretty Affair

Freeport Texas July 2 A pretty season entry as Miss Lula Mae Dunn daughter of Captain and Mrs E G Smith and Richard Hunt Earl Rice Institute 1926 graduate wed in a small ceremony at the bride’s home officiated by Rev A W Gordon. Ferns and daisies decorated the setting. A buffet luncheon preceded departure for Houston Galveston and points for the honeymoon. They will reside in Freeport where Earl holds a post with Freeport Sulphur Company. Out of town guests included Mr Earl’s Houston brother Mrs A G Reynolds Miss Arta Newsom of Lockhart and Mrs H G Stein of Luling.

A family reunion marked K H Klosterman seventy birthday on Sunday July 3 at his grand Shiner residence. An intimate ceremony at the Jennings home in Keeler township unites Laura Virginia Jennings and Otto John Helweg in marriage. Rev. M D McKean officiated. vows were exchanged to Lohengrin's The Wedding March. Family and neighbors attended. post ceremony honors and a modest reception followed. Mr. Helweg will live on the groom’s farm southwest of the village.

First bale of cotton raised in Robstown June 27

Robstown celebrated its first bale of cotton on Monday June 27. The notable involvement came from Shiner citizens who contributed to the effort. The bale was grown on the E. H. Klosterman farm and ginned by the Theo Rogge gin.

First Half of Summer Term Reported by Principal Chovanetz

Principal Chovanetz announced the week closes the first half of the summer term with 27 pupils in attendance. He notes improved daily results across the student body, aided by Mrs. Chovanetz. Six Moulton students are enrolled: Bes sie Wilberg Alfred Krause Georgia Mladenko Marguerite Boehm Anton Perrard and Alice von Lienen.

Twentieth Century Club Hosts June Meeting

Mrs Peck Welhausen hosted the Twentieth Century Club on June 30 with sixteen members and guests present including Mesdames Benno Holchak Rudy Valenta Otto Dreyer Arthur Kasper and Miss Stella Wolters. Minutes were read and approved excused absentees and rest room committee discharged. Alf Schramm and Peck Welhausen volunteered for July. Mrs A Kasper elected to membership. A salad course followed a games event with Mrs Alfred Schramm taking high and Mrs br C Wolters low. Meeting set for July 7 at Mrs Wm Wendtland's home.

Note from Mayo patient Louis Trautwein thanks friends

Louis Trautwein, patient at Mayo Bros. Hospital in Rochester Minnesota, thanks Shiner friends for letters during illness. He reports his operation was successful but a week later faced complications and was critically ill, now slowly recovering. He will go to his daughter Mrs. Quicksall in Amarillo after discharge to recuperate.
