Hunters Captured Near Gonzales after Jail Break

Sheriff W. W. Johnson captured Tom and Boon Hunter three miles east of Gonzales at dawn. The fugitives, armed with winchesters and pistols, offered no resistance after a tip led to their camp. Citizens praise the sheriff's skillful work and swift action.

Monk Gibson Hanged for Conditt Family Killings in Texas

Monk Gibson, once called one of the nation’s fiendish murderers in the Conditt family case, was executed at Cuero Texas at 2 45 PM local time. The crowd witnessed the hanging after prior executions of Conrad Schwartz and John Brown, with Gibson proclaiming his innocence before death and burial following at the potter’s field.

A lively party at Mrs L E Chovanetz hosted Twentieth Century Club members and guests with postal invitations, a mock train trip to Bloomberg, guessing game, gum drop contest, and a lavish lunch. Death of Miss Cassie Ledbetter

Miss Cassie Ledbetter died after a sickness that began in Cameron while visiting relatives. She was the oldest daughter of Dr A A Beebetter and served as a primary teacher in Halletsville Public School. Burial will be in Cameron with funeral Monday afternoon.

Republican Convention Votes on Reform Proposals Defeated

The Republican National Convention rejected key reform planks. Senators chosen by the people failed 866 to 114. disclosure of campaign contributions and disbursements failed 580 to 94. La Follette’s railroad valuation plan failed 17 to 63. Ohio taft delegation opposed all, with two Ohio votes for senatorial election. Bryan’s Commoner.
