Otto Severin Sofka 67 of Houston died January 16 after a lengthy illness. Rosary followed by a funeral Mass at St Theresa Catholic Church and interment in Garden of Gethsemane. Visiting periods are set for 7 00 to 730 am 10 00 to 11 00 am 2 00 to 4 00 pm and 7 00 to 830 pm. The January 28 1975 notice lists patient names from Shiner Moulton Flatonia and families with several dismissals including infants.

Jim Bolech Rites In Yoakum

The body of Jim Bolech 66 of 501 Aubrey Street Yoakum was found hanging from a tree 2.5 miles south of Yoakum in a pasture near a gravel road near Old Cuero Road and Old Stratton Road. A verdict of death by own action was returned. He was a part time Yoakum Packing Co employee with survivors including his wife Edwin Bolech a son a grandson two brothers and two sisters. Burial was at St Joseph Cemetery with Buffington Funeral Home in charge.

Drivers Education Program Begins at Shiner and St Paul Highs

The 1975 Drivers Education Program at Shiner High and St Paul High starts March 15 with Shiner Motor Sales supplying the cars. Interested buyers may choose a 1975 Chevrolet before March 1, receiving the usual discount. Courses conclude in mid June and mid July.

Mrs. P. J. Morisak laid to rest in Shiner burial

Mrs. Peter J. Morisak Sr. nee Sophia R. Srubar, age 78 years eight months thirteen days, died January 20 1975 in Houston Memorial Northwest. She lay in state at Buffington Funeral Home then at Shiner Catholic Church where Holy Mass was offered. Burial in Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers named. Rosary at Buffington Chapel. Survived by son Peter E. Morisak Jr. and two daughters, two brothers, one sister, four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband and parents.

Shiner schools seek used games and toys donations

The PTO of Shiner Public Schools asks for donated used toys games cards dominoes puzzles basketballs and similar items for rainy day recreation in elementary classrooms. Incomplete and broken toys may be accepted but no stuffed animals. Call Doris Bubolz at 5943130 or leave items on her porch.

Lady Fatima Statue Tour Visits San Antonio Archdiocese

The Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima blessed by Pope Paul VI travels across the San Antonio Archdiocese from February 4 to 24 under the Legion of Mary. Longtime Wied farmer dies at Yoakum area

Womanless Wedding Slated by Shiner PTO

The Shiner PTO sponsors a womanless wedding at the high school gym on Friday February 14 at 7 30 p m with kindergarten and elementary students entertaining the couple and guests. The Stage Band will perform and a reception follows with cake sandwiches punch and coffee. Admission is 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for students with ticket sales downtown February 1 and 8 or at the door the night of the event.

The Texas State Health Department schedules a free immunization clinic at the Hallettsville County Courthouse on Wednesday February 5 1975 from 10 00 a m to 1 00 p m. Diphtheria tetanus polio rubella and measles vaccines will be given. Parents are urged to start children at 2 months and bring any child needing shots.
