January 31 Deadline for 1967 School Census

The last day to count school age children for the 1967 census is January 31. Parents with children aged 6 to 18 as of September 1 1967 should contact Mrs Edward Kasper to ensure inclusion. Those entering school at age 6 for the first time in September should be counted for the summer pre school program.

Liquor Board Inspector Returns to Victoria Area Office

State Liquor Control Board inspector Billy Liddell is back in the Victoria area after over a year away. Liddell, moved from Victoria four years ago and left in April 1965 for Houston, arrived January 3 from Galveston to resume duties. He and Ed Armstrong will oversee Victoria, Calhoun, DeWitt, Jackson and Lavaca Counties.

Services Held For Goetz Infant

Shirley Jean Goetz, infant daughter of Billie Gene and Norma Lea Goetz of Shiner, died at Frank Wagner Memorial Hospital Saturday afternoon. Funeral services were held January 22 at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. F E Eilers. burial followed in Shiner City Cemetery. Mrs. Mary Huebner Zappe Dies at 83 in Shiner

Mrs. Mary Huebner Zappe age 83 9 months 21 days died January 17 1967 at Frank Wagner Memorial Hospital Shiner. Funeral Mass was January 18 at Saints Cyril and Methodius Church with graveside rites for relatives and friends from Shiner and nearby towns. Survived by daughter Beatrice Zappe two sons H Arthur Zappe and William Zappe Jr two granddaughters and two great grandchildren. Her husband William Zappe died in 1960. She was a lifelong Shiner resident and active in Catholic groups.
