XX Century Club Delights with Historic Paintings Lectures

Inclement weather did not deter the XX Century Club from meeting at Mrs. C. B. Welhausen’s home on January 15 with fourteen members present. Mrs. Edgar C. Wolters and Miss Stella Wolters gave vivid talks on Velasquez Surrender of Breda and Lerain Acis and Galatea. A February 5 gathering will study Sacred and Religious Pictures at Mrs. Nowlin’s.

Cook Jaehne Couple Wed at United Dr Martin Luther Church

Walter Cook and Selma Jaehne were quietly married at United Dr Martin Luther Church on Wednesday January 14. Rev J C A Pfenninger officiated. Attendants included Raleigh Cook Adela Jaehne Edwin Jaeline and Gertie Cook. A wedding supper followed at the bride’s parents’ home. The couple plans to reside in Shiner. Burial for Paul Palasek at Catholic Cemetery

Paul Palasek, about 64, died at the home of Louis Drabek last Saturday. He was buried Sunday morning in the Catholic Cemetery by Father Netardus. Very little is known of Palasek, wife in the old country warned, two children in New York survived but their addresses unknown. Mr. and Mrs. Drabek had given him a home for a number of years.

Shiner Hi Comanches Fall To Hallettsville Bralmas

Friday night at Bluecher Park Gym the Shiner Hi Comanches were defeated by Hallettsville Bralmas though they played hard and rallied the crowd. Shiner has held county championships for six years while the Comanches enjoy strong community support as mid term exams begin and the Fish celebrate rather than answer questions.
