Pauline Lichey Trustees Louisa Klostermann Rosa Kram Franziska Meyer Finance Committee E G Buske Hugo Liebhafsky O C Henkhaus Manager John Huber Inner Guard J H Huebner Deputy M E Wolters and physicians Drs Schulze and Wagner. Next meeting Feb 2 at 2 pm. members urged to attend and bring lunch for social hour.
Rathbone Temple No.78 Order of Pythian Sisters appoints new officers led by M E C Alvina Wolters and E Frieda Schramm, with Isabel Thulemeyer as Trustee and Ethel Hepler as Reporter and Captain. Convention held in Brownwood with active officers including Clara Dreyer and Minna Dittmar.
DeWitt Nowlin takes his son into a silent partnership in the Opera House Pressing Shop. The infant son arrived Friday night while the mother deems him too young to be trusted out of the cradle. Grandparents Gebrels receive congratulations on their grandson.
Distant mourners gathered for the funeral of Mrs. D. Garbade Sr, including families and relatives from Fiatonia Hallettsville San Antonio Yoakum Witting and Gonzales, among them E A Arnim William Mueller M Fernau Ed Rudy Max Mueller J J Smith E J Muecke F Voss J F Smith Chas Kwerth Otto Voelkel E Hildebrandt and Henry Stoeltje families along with Rev Jos Green Wace and Francis Garbade assistants and local mourners from multiple towns.
Inclement weather did not deter the XX Century Club from meeting at Mrs. C. B. Welhausen’s home on January 15 with fourteen members present. Mrs. Edgar C. Wolters and Miss Stella Wolters gave vivid talks on Velasquez Surrender of Breda and Lerain Acis and Galatea. A February 5 gathering will study Sacred and Religious Pictures at Mrs. Nowlin’s.
Walter Cook and Selma Jaehne were quietly married at United Dr Martin Luther Church on Wednesday January 14. Rev J C A Pfenninger officiated. Attendants included Raleigh Cook Adela Jaehne Edwin Jaeline and Gertie Cook. A wedding supper followed at the bride’s parents’ home. The couple plans to reside in Shiner. The Gazette offers congratulations.
Rev J D McWhorter will preach at both morning and evening services at the Methodist Church next Sunday. Public cordially invited to attend both services.
Farmers State Bank announces new officers and directors. Charles J. Garbade elected president, D. Garbade Sr as vice president, E. Cahier as assist cashier, Miss Anna Bozka named cashier. Directors include Charles J. Garbade, D. Garbade Sr, Tho Rogge, Anna Bozka and Edgar J. Merrem.
Mrs Edmund Herder welcomed three tables of Mah Jongg players Monday afternoon after the holidays. Mrs Ponton won high score. Guests included Mesdames S A Thulemeyer E J Tomasco E C and Alvina Wolters J C and A J Blohm Ed Gehrels O A Brieger Benno Holchak C B Welhausen and C J Waldrep. A salad course with cake and hot chocolate followed.

Paul Palasek, about 64, died at the home of Louis Drabek last Saturday. He was buried Sunday morning in the Catholic Cemetery by Father Netardus. Very little is known of Palasek, wife in the old country warned, two children in New York survived but their addresses unknown. Mr. and Mrs. Drabek had given him a home for a number of years.
The bank names C. B. Welhausen as president with E. F. Wolters William Green and Philip Welhausen as vice presidents. Peck Welhausen is cashier. The five officials form the Board of Directors.
Friday night at Bluecher Park Gym the Shiner Hi Comanches were defeated by Hallettsville Bralmas though they played hard and rallied the crowd. Shiner has held county championships for six years while the Comanches enjoy strong community support as mid term exams begin and the Fish celebrate rather than answer questions.

Mr and Mrs E J Henkhaus wave as they return from a trip to Fort Worth where they visited friends and attended local events. The couple spoke of a pleasant journey and thanked well wishers.
The town plans 1000 copies of the Shiner Gazette this week with an estimated readership of four people per household. About 4000 residents may learn that Shiner is on the map as the paper circulates.
Mrs D Garbade Sr dies after long illness at age 67 68 born Agnes Muecke in Old Fintonia Texas. Survived by six sons Henry Walter Willie D Garbade Chas J Victor and one daughter Mrs August Rogge. Funeral held at United Dr Martin Luther Church with pallbearers C M Koerner Edwin Wolters and others.
Thirst is urged to treat it right with Coca Cola in sterilized bottles at all leading cold drink stands across the county.
A Havana cablegram said Jos. Murad EW Wade and Gussie Wolters arrived safely at the port early Saturday.
