Shiner Business Men's Club Sets Luncheon and Plans Washington Birthday

Shiner Texas January meeting of the Business Men's Club at Royal Cafe approved continued luncheons with reduced cafe prices. Officers and committee heads reported, with County Agent Parks offering cooperation. A $12 special donation to the Chest Fund was noted and plans for a Washington's Birthday observance and a Mass meeting on the 182 Fair were approved. J C Blohm, Ad Richter, and P R Otto were appointed to arrange a community celebration, with future meetings scheduled for the fourth Thursday.

The P T A held its first meeting for 1938 on January 14 with 27 members and one visitor, Mr. Tampke of Charlottenburg, present. Officers answered roll call. the treasurer reported German Latin plays netting 23.50. Plans include awarding trophies for the Inter scholastic Meet and serving sandwiches at the County Meet.

Rev Fraser Moves Here to Schulenburg

Rev Fraser and wife relocate from Hallettsville to Schulenburg making their future home. He has served as local Baptist pastor for several years and now resides in an apartment with Mrs Lester Little, south of town. Gopher and Rat Specialist to Visit Shiner Friday Night

W E Kingen reports that County Agent Parks and USDA gopher and rat control expert Floyd W Dawson will speak at the Shiner night school at the old City Hall Friday night. Free motion pictures will be shown. Dawson says pocket gopher damage costs Lavaca county farmers thousands yearly. Parks urges local business people to attend for mice and rat control tips.

Mass Meeting To Decide 1932 Shiner Fair Next Monday

Roads were impassable keeping rural residents away as the January 25 mass meeting failed to decide on a Shiner fair. About 30 to 40 attendees debated pros and cons, and another mass meeting was scheduled to allow rural participation.
