Bridge party at 500 Club hosts a warm afternoon
On Tuesday afternoon January 11 Mrs. O W Dreyer hosted the 500 Club with three tables of bridge players. Miss Cora Berckenhoff scored high and Mrs. Benno Holchak was low among members. Guest prizes went to Mrs. H G Hollman for first and Mrs. Ernest Hajek for booby. Addl guest Mrs. L E Denmark attended. A salad course and hot chocolate were served.

The room glowed with rose arrangements as members and guests enjoyed conversation and needlework before moving to a dining room for a delicious lunch. Little Theatre Abroad Delights Schulenburg Audience
The Little Theatre of Shiner again gains praise with its performance of Her Gloves in Schulenburg High School Auditorium in a benefit for the Schulenburg High School Athletic Association. Cornelius Happy Seven opened with a lively twenty minute concert followed by strong vocal and instrumental numbers. Supt. Patton lauded the cast and thanked the troupe for entertaining the community.

Dan Moody, 33, was sworn in as Texas governor in an outdoor inauguration in Austin. He repeated the oath before Chief Justice C. M. Cureton, kissed the Supreme Court Bible, and led a grand march with his wife Mildred Paxton Moody. A large crowd gathered as celebratory balls and dances followed at the Driskill and Stephen F. Austin hotels.

Seniors fainted during English questions as Mr Chovanetz’s geometry propositions puzzled them. A Shiner versus Hallettsville girls game drew a large crowd, final score 24 to 13. Friday boys’ game ended 44 to 4 in favor of Shiner. The Literary Society met, Gene’s jokes amused Mr Chovanetz. Pip shone as high diver in swimming while Kee broke rackets in tennis. Cheese chased balls into Greens and Schramm’s yard. Proceeds from the football game totaled $12.35.
