A blizzard like winter grip endangers thousands causing cold cough and lagrippe. Signal symptoms include stuffed nostrils sore nose chills fever back-head pain and throat cough. Murray W. Ayers of Transit Bridge New York was near death with yellowing skin sunken eyes and extreme weight loss. He credits Electric Bitters with curing his liver trouble restoring 40 pounds and strength. The drug is advertised as a remedy for stomach liver and duty troubles available at druggists for 50 cents.
Advert keeps claim that Charmtherlain Cough Remedy wards off croup and anxiety. It states thousands of mothers use it successfully and that the product is sold by all dealers.
A 1911 California letter from Arroyo Grande reports dry weather with no rain, holiday gatherings at the Hubner and Huebner families, and New Year celebrations. It notes public school vacation, a new choir member B Marsalek, and ends with warm regards from the CALIFORNIA MAID.

Misses Martha and Alma Rippen visited relatives near Witting and attended a ball. August Scheafer died after a long illness at 28, with Catholic funeral rites led by Rev. Hudecek. Numerous social events are described including balls at Shiner Park and Frank Riendel's, visits among neighbors, and a closing Gute Nacht.
Dear Gazette readers report farming activity as land prepares for the new crop. Drabek of Shiner visits family in Yoakum, while the Thoms and Baree families host guests. A sweet new baby girl born to the Hagens family last week. Neighbors host visitors and attend church. many pupils attend school with about ninety there daily. A National dance is planned for February 2 1911. Yoakum shows growth with new brick and stone buildings and a creamery. Local residents travel to nearby towns and keep up with events and painting projects. Automobiles pass through daily as the community stays active.
In Shiner Texas the bank presents its resources in a January 7 1911 statement. The report shows capital stock paid in fifty thousand dollars retained earnings and profits after expenses taxes and reserves. It lists liabilities including deposits outstanding time certificates bonds borrowed and unpaid dividends with a total asset value of five hundred forty thousand seven hundred fifty three dollars and nineteen cents.
