Congratulations To Mr and Mrs Walter Herder 60th Anniversary

Notes and comments report a quiet celebration of Walter Herder and his wife’s 60th wedding anniversary on January 15 1975 at their Rt 2 Shiner home. About 55 friends and relatives joined for greetings. Out of town relatives visited and gifts and flowers were exchanged as well as a luncheon and well wishes for many more birthdays.

Shin er Independent School District Trustees Meeting Highlights

The Shin er ISD Board authorized a school trustee election for April 5 1975. Superintendent Seidenberger reported progress on stadium mess hall work, gym roof specs, basement sump pump replacement, and orders for 15 typewriters and a new bus. They reviewed the 1975 76 schedule, wage scales for auxiliaries, calendar with possible 3 bad weather days, and approved invoices. The next meeting is February 12 1975.

Lavaca County Officials Take Oath On New Year Day

Four Lavaca County officials were sworn in at Hallettsville courthouse on New Year’s Day with others taking oaths later. County Clerk Charles Strauss administered the oath to County Auditor G. H. Gerdes, and Strauss also administered to County Judge Wilbert Roznovsky along with several justices and precinct officers. Additional officials sworn in include E. S. Kelly District Clerk Tommy Grahmann County Treasurer Eddie Vrana several Justices of the Peace and two commissioners Henry Kocian Precinct 2 and J. R. Klimitchek Precinct 4.

Gonzales Savings Announces New Office Hours

Gonzales County Savings and Loan Association in Gonzales Texas announces new office hours effective Monday January 13 1975. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday.

New Five Year License Plates Due In Texas

Texas will issue five year multi year license plates beginning February 1 as 9.2 million renewal notices go out. Plates are heavier non corrosive steel with reflective white field and black lettering. In 1976 validation tags will be added with placement changes in 1977 to curb vandalism. The plan, modeled after California, aims to save about 8.5 million over five years while keeping current fee structure.

CYO Members Reminded on Rodeo Tickets and Show Date

CYO members must pay rodeo tickets to Yvonne Boehm by Monday January 20. Tickets cost 5.00 but members pay 2.50. guests pay 5.00. Helen Reddy to perform. Mae Davis had cancelled. Members will attend the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on Sunday February 3.

Mrs. Mary Salena 79 died December 31 1974 in Hallettsville convalescent center. Rosary was recited January 1 and funeral Mass January 2 at Queen of Peace Church Sweet Home. Burial in Sweet Home Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Rudy Bobby Charles Fikac Ronnie Salena Johnnie Kubec ka Kenny Kubecka. Snow Strikes Shiner With Light Snow and Cold Snap

Snow fell Sunday afternoon in Shiner for about three hours but left little ground cover except in shaded spots. Temperatures dropped to 17 degrees Monday morning, 27 degrees Tuesday morning, as an arctic front brought the winter's coldest weather and gusty winds lowering wind chill well below zero in some areas.

Community toy drive seeks used games for schools
