Postage Rates Rise for Newspapers and Magazines

Postage for second class mailings including newspapers and magazines increased January 1 1969 as part of the 1967 rate law in three steps. Postmaster Arthur Ward notes the second phase took effect January 1 1969 with further steps in 1968 and 1970 affecting general interest nonprofit classroom and controlled circulation publications. Rates vary by weight advertising content and distance with new zone ranges and special lower rates for classroom and nonprofit publications.

Impressive funeral rites marked the passing of Louis Roznovsky 84 at Autumn Hills Convalescent Center Richmond. Services at Buffington Funeral Home Shiner and Saints Cyril and Methodius Church included Requiem Mass led by Rev. John J. Hanacek. Survivors include five sons Edward Willie Clement Leonard Steve Roznovsky and others with 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Four Student Nurses Pass State Board Exams For LVN

Four trainees from Frank Wagner Memorial Hospital School of Vocational Nursing under Mrs. Helen Kosler took the October 21-23 1968 state board exams in Austin. Dolores Streng topped Shiner students with the highest score, followed by Irene Christian of Hallettsville. Twenty-two other Texas training programs participated as 1 086 candidates passed and 43 reciprocity licenses were issued to out of state applicants. The next exam dates are March 20-22 1969 in Austin.
