Spoetzl Brewery Honors Employees At Christmas Party

Mrs. Cecelie Spoetzl hosted the Legion Park event on December 20 for brewery staff and families. A turkey supper and gifts followed a Christmas tree ceremony, with seven employees receiving engraved wrist watches for 25 years of service. A memorial service honored the late Kosmos Spoetzl and departed workers.

Mrs. Frank Guittard Sr. Dies in Waco Hospital

Relatives received a Christmas Day notice announcing the death of Mrs. Frank Guittard Sr. in a Waco hospital on Christmas morning. Funeral services were held Friday December 26 at the First Baptist Church in Waco with Mr and Mrs C C Welhausen of Yoakum attending the last rites.

Last Rites For Mrs. Joe Wagner

Mrs. Joe Wagner of Moulton died at Wagner Hospital in Shiner after a two month confinement. She was 68 years old. Funeral services are set for January 2 at 9:15 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. at St. Josephs Catholic Church with interment in Moulton Catholic Cemetery. Rosary is scheduled for January 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home. Surviving are husband Joe Wagner, mother Anna Matula, four daughters Emil Charba, Mrs. Edwin Kubena, Mrs. Henry Kiesel Jr, Mrs. George Machart, three sons Johnnie, Willie, Rudie, and fourteen grandchildren.

Rites for Anton J Krpec in Yoakum

Rites held Thursday December 18 for Anton J Krpec 80 of 611 Dullye Street with Rev Edward J Jansky officiating at Buffington Chapel St Josephs Church and St Josephs Cemetery. He died December 16 at Huth Memorial Hospital. He was born May 15 1878 in Europe. Survivors include one son nine daughters eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Expansion planned for spring 1959 hog farrowings in Texas

Breeding intentions show a 40 percent rise in Texas spring farrowings for 1959 over 1958. Favorable grain to hog price ratios boost producer interest. Most of the larger spring farrowed pig crop is expected to reach market in fall 1959. Postmaster Arthur Ward notes data from farmers and routes KS, RM, BH support nationwide reports. The 1958 U S pig crop totaled 94.8 million, up 8 percent from 1957, with 8.3 million sows to farrow in spring 1959, 12 percent more than last spring.
