Governor James V. Alfred proclaims February 24 to March 2 as Texas Week urging homeowners churches schools and civic clubs to fly the Lone Star and hold patriotic programs. He orders the state flag flown over all public buildings during the week and honors the Centennial heritage and duties to future generations.
At Winstenee Hall the Midway Home Demonstration Club met with twenty two members and several visitors. New members started foundation patterns while others learned four sleeve patterns. A luncheon followed. Next meeting at Mrs John Elsik on March 8 with Singer sewing machines. A42 and banco party at Vlastenec Hall Friday March 1 at 7 30 p m. refreshments on ground. admission ten cents. Reporter
A Shiner P T A meeting on February 14 discussed beautifying the school grounds by planting hedge along the back campus. Miss Edna Reischl highlighted picture appreciation and visitors day was moved to the first week in April for the March 1 exhibit. Members voted to invite Miss Hughs, the State Home Economics Inspector, to speak in Shiner Reporter.
D L Hudson announces information on new cotton handling rulings to be presented at community meetings in Witting at 8 30 a m Friday March 1 Kamensky at 10 30 a m Moulton at 2 p m and Shiner at 4 p m March 1.
Mr. and Mrs. Arno Wagener and son Glenn visited Schulenburg relatives on Sunday, spending time with extended family and returning home afterward.
Mrs C B Welhausen and Ray visited Pearsall on Sunday, sharing time and hospitality. The brief social outing highlighted community ties and friendly visits among local residents.
The Shiner High School Comanches visit the Royal Cafe tonight at seven. Mr B P Hodges division engineer of the State Highway Department from Yoakum will attend with a federal Bureau of Public Roads representative.
The Bunnjes Demonstration Club held a sewing machine clinic on Monday Feb. 18 featuring a New Singer model with 13 members and 14 visitors. Five machines were repaired at no cost, and the Feb. 22 meeting at Mrs. Homer Sommerlatte’s home drew 20 members, 6 visitors, and welcomed new member Mrs. Herbert Siems. A 42 and Bunco party was planned for March 15 at the Blohm building, with reports on recipes and fabric topics.
Czech citizens of Texas meeting in Temple laid the groundwork for participation in the Texas Centennial in 1986. Two hundred fifty delegates from 82 cities and communities were represented. Officers elected included Method Pazdral president Ignac J. Parma vice president and L. J. Sulak senator.

Rev A Guyon announced that the Shiner congregation will switch to preaching every Sunday night with no Sunday morning service starting next Sunday night. Sunday school remains 10 to 11 each Sabbath morning. Friends are welcome at all services.
A major showing for Broadway Bill features Warner Baxter and Myrna Loy at Palace Sun. and Monday. The film draws strong crowds and strong reviews, marking a highlight in the season.
A 150 piece collection of fine prints reproduced from originals will be shown in the annex of Shiner Public School starting March 1. Hours are 8 to 5:30 in the afternoon and 7 to 10 at night, with a living picture program by Shiner students at 7:30 for one hour. One ticket admits to both exhibition and program. admission is 10 and 15 cents, funds going to the school picture fund.
Dense sand storms swept the Panhandle and Plains on Friday afternoon as a weather shift brought a rapid drop from spring warmth to freezing temperatures by Monday morning, continuing into Tuesday. The abrupt cold snap created hazardous conditions and likely affected travel and outdoor activities.
Mrs. R J Strauss is visiting Port Arthur relatives for a short stay. The trip highlights family gatherings and local sightings during the visit to the Texas city.
The Shiner Hi Comanches end their basketball season at Schulenburg Friday morning against Yorktown after fouling out of a District Championship. Four Comanches earned All District honors, led by Grill as unanimous All-District center, with Hale and Reicsel among others. Despite a late rally by Yorktown, Shiner showed pride in defeat and their strong schedule, with several players praised for speed and skill.

The Texas Lutheran College Choir will appear in Shiner Sunday night March 3 at 7 30 p m at the City Auditorium. Citizens who heard them last year praised their performance and a capacity house is expected for the concert.
Governor James V. Allred invites U S governors to help Texas celebrate the Centennial in 1936. Cullen F. Thomas, head of the Texas Centennial Commission, delivered the decorated invitations in Dallas on Monday for signature before dispatch to the governors.
All schools wishing to participate are invited to bring their track boys and volleyball girls to Charlottenburg school next Sunday March 8 at 1 30 PM. Food and drinks will be available and a dance will be held that night, so attendees should plan to stay for the festivities.

The Twentieth Century Club met at the Library on Thursday afternoon for routine business and Rostand study. A paper titled Rostand, Man and Dramatist by Mrs. Edw Berckenhoff opened the session, with Cyrano de Bergerac readings led by Mrs. J W Boyle. Visitors included Mrs. Adela Sanders of London, Mrs. G G Welch of Denton, and Mrs. W P Faulkner of Lubbock.
