Frances Fallysek Rites Held Feb 19 in La Grange
Funeral services for Frances Faltysek 86 were held February 19 at Koenig Funeral Home La Grange with a Requiem High Mass at Sacred Heart Church. Survived by daughter Patricia Sandera and five half-sisters and three half-brothers, the deceased came from Austria as a child and spent most of her life in Fayette County. Rosary was recited the night before.

Armed Robbers Sought After Service Station Hold Up
State wide manhunt underway for two well dressed youths after they robbed an attendant at Bennie Marcak service station in Shiner at 4:00 AM Friday February 20. Sheriffs Long of Lavaca and McGinty of Gonzales led the search, with three youths later picked up in Sweetwater on hijacking and robbery charges involving a 16 year old Flatonia boy tied to a tree north of Gonzales.

Three men suspected in Shiner armed robbery
Sheriff Theo Long said two well dressed men robbed a service station near Betty's Cafe, binding Frank Roznovsky and fleeing with a Winchester rifle, ammo, merchandise, and about $40. Roznovsky identified two young suspects ages 20 and 23, and all state police were alerted as Shiner and Hallettsville officers pursued leads.

Flatonia Boy Hijacked Robbed in 15 Miles North of Gonzales
A 16-year-old Flatonia boy hitchhiking to the Fat Stock Show was hijacked and robbed by three men. They left him tied nude to a tree in a pasture off Highway 90, 15 miles north of Gonzales before a passerby freed him. The suspects, Jerry Boyd Albert Valle and Ivey Lanthier, 16 19 and 24, were captured in a faded blue 1953 Chevrolet with Louisiana plates and jailed in Gonzales County. The car was reported stolen in Louisiana and officers there pursued them. The victim’s boots clothes suitcase and small cash were taken.

Autos Damaged in Collision Near Kasper Home
Two cars and a fence were heavily damaged when a 1955 Oldsmobile driven by Mrs. Ione M. Morgan struck a legally parked 1957 Chevrolet in front of the Kasper residence on Hwy 90 A. The Morgan car jumped the curb and rested in the Kasper yard after tearing through a fence. Minor injuries were reported to Mrs. Morgan who was hospitalized briefly. Merrem was away from her car. Damages exceed $2,000.
