New Spring Edition of Texas Highway Maps Released
The Texas Highway Department announces the Spring edition of its official travel maps. The four color map shows changes through December from the postwar road program, with color pictures of industrial and recreational assets. La Grange School Wins Bond for New Buildings and Gifts

Lost heirs found for old life policy proceeds in Shiner
Two California descendants of former Shiner teacher Blanche Barrington were identified as the surviving heirs to a 1901 life insurance policy paid up as of 1904. The Mutual Life Insurance Company and the Shiner Gazette traced the heirs after decades with no contact from the beneficiary Bishop E. Blake, who predeceased Barrington.
