Another 9 pound newborn arrived to Mr and Mrs Johnnie E Kasper of our city on Wednesday. Relatives were notified of Don Charles born to Mr and Mrs Chas Dugas of Houston on February 8 weighing 6 1 2 pounds. the mother is former Miss Sue Marek of Shiner.

Firefighters responded quickly to a Tuesday blaze at a three room home owned by Tom Green in the northern part of town. The only occupant, a blind boy, was inside but rescued by Leo Kuykendall, a colored man. Origin of fire unknown.

Belle Cox 92 dies. longtime South Texas pioneer buried in Yoakum
Funeral services for Mrs. Belle Cox of Alice Texas aged 92 were held at the Presbyterian church. She died at home of her daughter Mrs D C Daniel after a brief illness. Born Long Island May 1846 she lived with her daughter nearly 14 years and was famed for literature knowledge and church work. Survivors include daughter Mrs Daniel son E P Cox and two grandchildren. Burial at Yoakum to follow services conducted by Rev G B Strickler. pallbearers named.

Fritz Niemann Dies in Slaton Hospital
Fritz Niemann of Wilson died at Slaton Hospital Tuesday evening in a message received by Louis Trautwein. He formerly lived in Shiner and leaves several relatives in the area. He was a member of the local O. D. H. S. Lodge. Our sympathy goes to the bereaved.

Fehrenkamp had long service in gin industry and family ties
Walter J. Fehrenkamp died after weeks of illness at the local hospital on February 18. He was born December 16, 1884 in Flatonia and grew up in Shiner. He managed the Sweet Home Gin for the past two years and married Emma Matula in 1907, leaving three sons Cornelius Edgar and Harry. Surviving are his mother, a brother, four sisters, and his wife and sons. funeral rites were held at the local Catholic Church with Requiem Mass and burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
