Election records show 4661 poll tax receipts issued in Lavaca County with total payments increasing 24 over last year. Town totals include Moravia 9 Mount Olive 5 Wied 8 Oak Grove 10 and all other precincts showing a countywide small decrease.
Rain aids land while roads suffer. plowing and corn planting underway. forty pupils attend the local school daily. A birthday party for Frieda Brunkenhofer drew a jolly crowd with cake and lemonade. Locals Chas Wendt, Emil Zimmermann, Ida and Emma De harde, Otto Fissler, and John Househildt are noted in recent travels and visits around Bishop and Dreyer.
Dear editor and readers this is my first letter to the Gazette hoping it will not reach the waste basket. Mrs Rippen visited relatives at Witting Sunday. Mr Arthur Rabe and best were visiting Mr and Mrs Emil Renken at Dreyer Sunday.
Ida Ringhoffer Alma Rippen visited Shiner last Thursday. Raab family and Edwin stayed with Frank Mewes and family. Frank Ruppel Seguin visited Prof Ruppel and family. Emmett Schumann stayed with Frank Mewes. Albert Dolazal visited the Reindal household. Selma Clara Mewes visited Viola Pfeil. Frieda Alma Rippen called on Ida Ringhoffer Thursday evening. Little Jimmie.
