Louis Wagener is in Hallettsville this week to observe sessions of the Commissioners Court and participate in public proceedings.
The Woman's Auxiliary to the Texas American Legion is forming as a sister body. Since the state group was perfected, over twenty-five cities have sought local charters. Mrs E Murray of Houston leads a tour to organize in twenty-three Texas cities, sparking statewide interest.
Public notice promotes Crystal Cafe dining bargain offering boiled sugar cured hams with contact line Phone 95 for orders and takeout.
Yoakum Texas February 9 removal of the Misle toe Creamery Company plant to San Antonio has begun. Yoakum machinery and fixtures will be combined with those of the San Antonio plant. Lack of patronage blamed for the move. Several workmen and officials will relocate to San Antonio.
The income tax man will be in Shiner from noon February 21 to noon February 22 to assist individuals in filing their tax returns. He will be located at a local bank.
The dedication of the new school building at Hallettsville last Tuesday was largely attended by Shiner people.
Local Kolar Stanek Post No 201 leases four second story rooms in the Opera House building for club use. One room hosts pool and domino tables, another serves as a reception and recreation area, plus a library and writing room. The rooms will be open day and night to members and visiting veterans, with each member acting as a committee to ensure proper operation. The post thanks Southland Lumber Co for a $10 contribution to help cover expenses.
Former service members are asked to contact O. S. T. Meyer of Wolters Brothers Company to inquire about membership in the post.
The M. E. Sunday School reports praise members for attendance. Gold bars are awarded for six years to Louise Thulemeyer Elvera Herder Stella Blohm Elmo Schulze Emmett Dreyer Mae Bloom Victor Schulze Walter Schmidt. Five years go to Herms Dittmar Lilian Merseburger Mabel French Roxie Verne Buske. Four years to Mae Rogge. Gold wreaths for two years go to Elizabeth Gehrels James Buske Ray Welhausen Gene Schulze Glade Welhausen.
Government report shows cotton ginned up to January 16 in Colorado Fayette and Lavaca counties. Colorado 17 481 bales this year versus 6 557 last year. Fayette 37 326 bales this year versus 10 934 last year. Lavaca 42 468 bales this year versus 6 662 last year.
The new serial story The Voice of the Pack begins in our next issue. It promises a fine tale from the Western Wilds and invites readers to follow its adventure.
Miss Wilhelmina Hillmer wed Joseph W. Schindler at the Hillmer home with Judge A G Lichey officiating. The couple's honeymoon trails include San Antonio Austin Marlin and then Shiner where Schindler runs a cleaning and pressing shop.

Rev. Joyce J. Mastin will preach at the Baptist church in Shiner on the third Sunday February 20 at 11:00 AM and 7:30 PM. All invited to attend as he shares experiences from five years in Europe during World War I in France and Belgium.
Theo Rogge’s farm at Dreyer was attacked by an attempt to burn the barn last Sunday around three in the morning. A bucket brigade and watering trough water saved the building with little damage. the cause remains unknown.
The Camp Fire Girls met in Wy Ding after a short business meeting. The social program featured Fern Richter and Louise Thulemeyer with musical selections and nursery rhymes by the girls. The next meeting with Myrtle Monroe is scheduled for February 22.
