Funeral Services Held Here For Frank J Uleak
Funeral services for Frank J Uleak of the Wied section were held at Buffington Funeral Home Shiner and St Marys Cemetery Hallettsville. He died February 8 1959 at Wagner Hospital at age 71 years 11 months 13 days. He was born February 25 1887 in St Marys Lavaca County and lived in the St Marys Shiner area. He was a Catholic and a Knights of Columbus member. Surviving are Agnes Brosch his wife two sons Edwin and George 13 grandchildren one great grandchild four sisters five brothers and many in laws. Interment was at St Marys Cemetery Route 4 Hallettsville.

Victoria man Baros 61 dies in Victoria hospital from injuries from an Oct 2 pickup crash near Meyersville. He was a Wagner Construction carpenter and survived by wife Matilda and nine grandchildren. Funeral services held at Our Lady of Lourdes with burial in Resurrection Cemetery.

Gulf Oil Corporation completed the Hugh Koether No. 1 well in Baylor County producing about 100 barrels of 40 gravity oil daily. The asset sits on a 320 acre jointly owned tract by Hugh Koether and August Schramm of Shiner. Koether, long-time Shiner postmaster and local businessman, also runs a cotton gin and Sparky's Variety Store partnership with his son-in-law Perry Francis. Schramm, a long time Banner subscriber, has two children, Ella Koether and Alfred Schramm.
