Shiner Public Schools schedule Black History Week from February 14 to 18 1977 with multiple speakers and activities. Shiner High Plans Student Faculty Basketball Game

The Shiner High School Student Council sponsors a student faculty basketball game Friday February 18 at 7 00 p m in the gym. Admission is 1.00 for adults and 50 cents for students.

Czech Day at Ganado Set for Feb 13 1977

Czech Day festivities in Ganado Texas will be held February 13 1977. Mass in Czech at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption B V M Church celebrated by Bishop John L Markovsky of Houston with Czech sermon and singing. A procession of people in Czech dress at 9:30 a.m. from Assumption School to the church. Noon covered dish dinner and 2:00 p.m. program. Sponsored by KJZT District IX and KJT District VII.

Steve Roznovsky Honored On Retirement In Lavaca County

A Feb 1 1977 ceremony in Hallettsville honored Steve Roznovsky of Shiner after thirty years of county service. Roznovsky served as Lavaca County Precinct No 3 commissioner from 1965 to 1976, earlier worked as a maintenance operator, and helped establish fringe benefits, jail and courthouse improvements, and the Sheriff’s Ambulance Rescue Service. Born 1912 in Shiner, he is married to Edna Proschko with two children and three grandchildren.

Winn's Stores Reports Record 1976 Earnings and Sales

Winn's Stores, Inc announces 1976 net income of 3.888 million dollars, up from 2.96 million in 1975, the highest in company history, with 60.362 million dollars in sales, a 13.5 percent rise. Fourth quarter net income reached 1.915 million dollars, or 1.92 per share, on 19.788 million in sales, as the San Antonio firm plans eight to ten new stores in 1977 and remodels.
