Frank K Pavlicek lifelong Komensky farmer died at home January 24 1966 at 80. Funeral held January 26 at Smith Funeral Home Moulton and Praha Church with Rev Marcus Valenta. Buried Praha Catholic Cemetery. Survived by wife two sons four daughters 18 grandchildren and other relatives.
Boy Scout leader training for Scoutmasters Assistant Scoutmasters Committeemen and dads of boy scouts begins Thursday February 3 at 7 30 p m at the National Guard Armory Cuero The seven sessions cover all phases of scouting and attains the Scouter s Key All scouting affiliates urged to attend.

A 14 year old Shiner boy, Cuero area teen travelers sustain injuries after a wreck on Old Lindenau Road. Another Yoakum teen injured. driver 15 from Shiner. A separate crash near Lindenau involved a 20 year old from Yoakam with minor injuries. Additional incidents include a Corpus Christi man and a Cuero man colliding on a river bridge and a Cuero resident hit by a deer near the city limits.
Pack 232 sponsored by Knights of Columbus will hold its Blue and Gold Banquet on Tuesday February 8 1966 at 7 p.m. in the Catholic Parish Gym. The event observes Boy Scout Week February 7 13 marking the 56th anniversary of the BSA with the theme Strong for America. Boy Scout Sunday is February 6 with Cub Scouts and leaders attending Mass at 8 o'clock. Cub display of window at Welhausen Dry Goods Store next week.

Milton Gus Flessner died suddenly in Dallas on January 23 1966 at age 40 11 months 17 days Funeral services were held January 25 at Buffington Chapel Yoakum with Rev Gerald Wascom officiating Burial followed at City Cemetery Shiner He lived in Yoakum Ardmore Oklahoma and Taylor and worked 17 years for Yoakum City Utilities He was active in Boy Scouts and Little League He is survived by his parents sister and two nephews all of Yoakum The obituary notes a large display of flowers and the sorrow of many followers.
The St Paul High School Freshman Class will sponsor a bake sale Saturday February 5 beginning at 8 30 a m at Patek s Market downtown. Home made cakes bread noodles kolaches pies and more will be available for weekend treats.
The FHA sponsors a Valentine dance Friday February 11 at Shiner High School Gym. All Shiner and Moulton students plus alumni invited. Admission 35 cents a couple 25 cents for stags. Dance runs 10 p.m. to midnight.
Funeral services were held in Shiner for Fred Berger aged 21. He died in Houston from an apparent welding related electrocution at General Welding Co. Autopsy ordered. Rosary and graveside rites conducted. burial at Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Surviving are parents and four brothers.

Emil Henry Kosler of 222 Devonshire St San Antonio died January 24 1966 at 11 15 am in Nix Memorial Hospital at age 65. Funeral services were held January 26 at Buffington Funeral Home and Saint Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church with burial in Shiner Catholic Cemetery. He had lived in San Antonio 40 years employed by Lone Star Brewery. Survivors include his brother O A Kosler of Shiner and sister Bertha Baker of Waco.
Funeral services were held in Weimar on Monday January 24 1966 for Alfred Koehler age 57 found dead at his home south of Weimar after a fire. Justice of the Peace H W Hasse Sr ruled accidental death by fire though cause of death uncertain. He was last seen by Johnnie Barton Saturday morning and found by August Beken with clothing burned near a burning paper. Rev Frank H Horak Jr officiated at the Weimar United Church of Christ with burial in Masonic Cemetery. He was born January 17 1909 to Henry and Johanna Koehler and married Vera Kasper in 1940. she died in 1961. Surviving are a brother Henry E Koehler and a sister Leona Teltschik.
Alfred W. Stoeltje aged 69 years 5 months and 10 days died January 31 1966 at Frank Wagner Memorial Hospital Shiner. Visitation in state at Shiner until 1 pm February 2 then services at 2 pm at United Dr. Martin Luther Church Shiner with military rites. Burial at Shiner City Cemetery. Survivors include wife Alvina daughters Ruby Pohler Victoria Pearl Jimenez San Antonio two grandchildren brother Hugo Stoeltje Yoakum sister Gertrude Pringle Corpus Christi. The Rev. Albert Michalik, Nelsonville resident pastor in Austin County, conducts monthly services at Shiner Brethren Church when five Sundays occur. Services are both Czech and English. He holds a BS from the University of Texas 1960 and completed theology studies in 1953 at Austin Presbyterian Seminary. He is married to Annie Mary, a registered nurse, with two sons.
Mrs Lucy Mae Seger Strauss 51 of San Antonio died January 27 1966 at her home. Rosary was recited January 30 at Angelus Funeral Home Chapel, body blessing January 31, Requiem Mass at St Peter Prince Church. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery Hallettsville. Survivors: husband James Strauss two sons James Jr and Paul, daughter Sister Mary Shelia CDP, father Joe Seger, two sisters Agnes Gosch Margarette Bilers, two brothers Joe and Mertes Seger, one grandchild. Found dead by Terrell Hills officer after husband alerted. No foul play suspected.
Lavaca County Medical Society urges citizens to understand the Drug Abuse Control Amendment of 1966 enacted by the 89th Congress and signed by President Johnson. The law, taking effect by February 1, 1966, tightens control over potent drugs to prevent misuse and related harm.
Mrs. Dick Wachtendorf 65 of 129 Tennessee Ave San Antonio died January 29 1966 at a local hospital. Funeral at 2 pm February 2 Georgian Chapel Porter Loring Mortuary with Rev Herman Dannhaus. Burial Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers listed. Native of Germany she lived in San Antonio 40 years and belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church and Hermann Sons. She and husband visited Shiner frequently. they toured Europe in 1960 with Henry Karnau family. Survivors include husband Dick son Herman brother Bernhard Rippe Jr sister Martha Kaul granddaughter Kris Wachtendorf and two granddaughters Linda and Shelley Wachtendorf.
IRS official in Victoria Texas warns refunds cannot be paid without W-2 with holding tax certificates and credits depend on them. For joint 1965 returns attach W-2s for both workers. if more than one job, attach all W-2s. If a W-2 is missing contact the employer or current owner. if unavailable, file by April 15 with notes explaining the absence.
A Social Security Office representative from Victoria Texas will be at Shiner City Hall at 9 a.m. Monday February 7 1966 to help residents file retirement survivor disability or medicare claims and answer questions about the program.
Chris Krejci of Shiner, a Shiner FFA member, will take part in the Calf Scramble during each performance of the Harry Knight RCA Rodeo in San Antonio February 11 to 20. The event awards livestock purchase certificates to 10 winners per show from 20 entrants, with values from 50 to 15 dollars.
