Population figures for Lavaca County and towns 1910

Census data for Lavaca County Texas from the Thirteenth Census shows 1910 total population 26,418, down from 28,121 in 1900 and up from 21,887 in 1890. Incorporated towns Halletsville Shiner and Yoakum recorded 1910 populations of 1,379 1,096 and 4,657 respectively. Yoakum’s Lavaca and DeWitt county portions total 2,864 and 1,793 respectively.

State Treasurer Resigns Over Inadequate Compensation

German Catholic federation to meet in Moulton in July

The State Federation of the German Roman Catholic societies of Texas will hold its annual convention in Moulton in July with dates to be announced later. Delegates from across the state are expected to attend and enjoy Moulton and its people. Lavaca County reports January poll tax payments are several hundred short of last year at the same date. Tax Collector Bennett traditionally makes a second Yoakum trip in January to collect taxes but may not if the quarantine remains.
