The legislature enacted a public peace law during the last session. It declares that discharging guns pistols cannon crackers or torpedoes in public squares streets alleys or within 100 yards of businesses is punishable by fines up to 100 dollars. A cannon cracker is defined as a firecracker over two inches long and over one inch in circumference.
Advertising copy promotes Laxative Bromo Quinine Tablets claim to cure a cold in one day. It states druggists refund the money if it fails and notes KE. W. Grove's signature on each box with a 95 cent price.
A joint Teachers Institute for D Witt Gonzales and Lavach counties will meet in Yoakum January 12 13. Teachers are invited to attend with Yoakum residents hosting visiting educators. Rail reduction likely and the program will be published soon. F P Guenther Co Supt of Public Schools.
