Lavaca County ACA committee tallied December 14 votes from the December 12 cotton referendum. Marketing Quotas received 615 votes with 351 against, 966 total and 63.6 percent in favor. Local results showedQuotas up relative to prior years, but not enough for county majority. Nationally, cotton producers favored quotas by a large margin, guiding the program year.

Twenty six year 2 1-2 per cent bonds due December 15, 1968 callable December 15, 1963. Issued in coupon or registered form at the option of the buyer. Commercial banks will not be permitted to hold these bonds until ten years after the date of issue. There is no limit on the amount any eligible investor may purchase. Interest is paid semi annually June 15 and Dec 15. The bonds will be sold in denominations from $500 to $100,000. In the event of the death of a holder the bonds may be redeemed at 100 per cent and accrued interest for federal estate taxes. Tragedy Claims Third Member of Bezdek Family
A crossing accident near West last week killed Mr and Mrs John Bezdek and daughter Rosie as their car was struck by an interurban, dragging about 20 feet. Daughter Lillian, 13, was seriously injured while another daughter stayed home unharmed. A sister of Mrs Hanak was killed instantly and John Bezdek died the next day. Rosie died Friday at 2:30 am. services for Rosie were held December 14. The Bezdeks, devout Catholics, leave many survivors including several daughters and sons in the Army.
