Death of Mrs. Mathilda Wiedemann at her Ellinger area home
Mrs. Mathilda Wiedemann died at about nine Sunday morning after reportedly suffering a stroke while on her farm south of town. Funeral held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at her son Harry Wiedemann's home. burial beside her husband in Flatonia cemetery. Survived by four daughters Matilda, Emma Kloss, Isolda Macha, and Mrs. Luck, and two sons Fred and Harry, plus grandchildren.

Bank Robbery Attempt Quashed in Flatonia Texas
In Flatonia Texas on December 6 two men attempted to rob the Platonia State Bank using a crowbar and tools from a nearby shop. They forced a hole in the vault but fled as alarms sounded and the night marshal converged. Police traced two suspects on foot through town and alerted surrounding communities. Earl Cochran spent Sunday in Shiner.

Shiner woke Tuesday to a break in at C. B. Welhausen & Co. hardware, with about 75 dollars worth of merchandise taken, mainly high grade pocket knives. The thief entered by climbing a ladder, removing glass over the door and slipping through the transom. No clues yet.
