Emma Hartman Schodde dies at Stevens Nursing Home in Yoakum on December 3 1966 aged 82 years 5 months and 25 days after years of illness including strokes. She was born July 8 1884 in Nelsonville Industry Community Austin County and married October 8 1904 near Dreyer later living in Moulton and Cuero leaving a large family. Funeral held December 5 at Zion Lutheran Church Moulton with Rev Julius Holm. burial in Moulton City Cemetery.
Lewis E. Cook has resigned as Hospital Administrator effective December 21, 1966. He will report to Brackenridge Hospital, Austin, to start training in X ray technology. The Board of Directors is now receiving applications for the administrator position.

Ernest L Balhorn of Bay City died December 4 1966 in Houston Veterans Hospital at 78. He was WWI veteran and a barber. Funeral December 6 at Buffington Yoakum with Rev Reeves. Interment Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Survived by wife Amanda, son Ernest Jr, daughter Doris, five grandchildren. Preceded by son Marvin and several relatives. Bee Bednar of Shiner attended.
Vic Roznovsky is recuperating after a slipped disc operation at Sierra Hospital in Fresno California on Monday December 12. He is expected to stay about ten days and plans to visit Shiner with his wife and baby daughter Stephanie in January.
A turkey shoot will be held at Larry's Drive-Inn starting at 1:30 p.m. Sunday December 18. All shot gun gauges 12 16 20 and 410 are allowed, shells furnished, refreshments provided. Larry's Drive-Inn on the Shiner Gonzales highway occupies the former Victor Pulkrabek's Store.

Eugene Patek, 26, of Shiner, is treated at Citizens Memorial Hospital after a rifle discharge while deer hunting on Frank Picha property in Gonzales County. He was struck above the knee, lost consciousness, then was moved to Waggoner Memorial Hospital and later to Victoria for surgery. He is son of Mr and Mrs Jerome Patek and husband of Dorothy Picha.
Postal officials urge early mailing and ZIP Code use to ease December surge as expected mail volume nears 80 billion. Postmaster General Lawrence F. Rosary December 14 at 7 30 p m by parish and 7 45 p m by Knights of Columbus. Military rites with interment in Shiner Catholic Cemetery.
DANCE CLUB dues payable at the Bank with a January 31 deadline. Knights of Columbus hold a 7 30 p m meeting Thursday December 15 at the parish gym with Sister Anastasia as special speaker. St Isidore Society meets Sunday December 18 at 1 00 p m in the Parish Gym for annual meeting and officer elections.
Tony Roeder bagged a four point buck Sunday morning December 11 at the Zappe Ranch in Cheapside. Elton Zander felled a five pointer on the Laas Ranch on Thanksgiving Day.
Effective immediately trash pickup south of the railroad tracks is on Tuesdays and north of the tracks on Thursdays. Collections begin at 7:00 a.m. curb placement must occur before 7:00 a.m. no repeats. Containers max 30 gallons. no sand or rocks. branches under three feet, bundled for one man. Business pickup remains daily.
Funeral services for Ed Kocian of Route 2 Hallettsville were held Saturday December 19 1966 at the Kubena Funeral Home and Moravia Catholic Church with Father Edward Bartsch officiating. Burial followed in Moravia Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Marvin Fikac Kenneth Krupala Waldo Boehm Anthony Boehm Gregory Seidenberger and Philip Seidenberger. Mr Kocian died December 7 1966 at Guadalupe Valley Hospital Seguin at 78 years and 18 days. He was born November 19 1888 in Lavaca County. He married Anna Kutac in October 1914 at Praha. Survivors include six sons Julius Bruno Edward Jr Valentine Thomas Eldon and one more son Ed Kocian in Houston and five daughters Evelyn Fikac Bridget Krupala Judith Seidenberger Irene Babik Marjorie Boehm along with a brother and a sister and many grandchildren. Sincerest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
Shiner Texas volunteer fire department receives a note of thanks from Belmont Community citizens. They credit the department and neighboring communities for helping save land and homes during a blaze. The letter expresses deep gratitude and gratitude from the heart.

John Albert Caka, 71, died suddenly of a heart attack at his Shiner residence on December 5 1966. Rosary in Shiner was led by the St Isidore Society, with a Catholic Mass at Saints Cyril and Methodius Church. Interment followed at Shiner Catholic Cemetery.
The Knights of Columbus Council No. 1582 of Yoakum sponsor a turkey shoot at Rudy's Air Park on Sunday December 18 starting at 2 p.m. The event at Rudy's Air Park and Lake two miles east of Midway off Highway 95 offers barbecued sausage and refreshments and free fishing all day.

Impressive last rites for Elo J. Wolters at Buffington Funeral Home Shiner on Tuesday December 6 1966 at 2 00 p m. Rev Jesse G Cooke and Rev Charles Rank officiated. Burial in Shiner City Cemetery with pallbearers from Cuero Dallas and Shiner. Wolters retired businessman born December 24 1886 in New Ulm Texas. survived by wife Julia Runk sister and nieces nephews.
The Shiner Dance Club hosts a Christmas dance Saturday night December 17 at Legion Park. Each member couple may bring a guest couple. Music by The Hi-Toppers Orchestra starts at 8 30 p.m.
