The Farmers Agricultural Association will meet at 7 30 tonight at the City Auditorium. All farmers growing cotton are urged to attend to receive last minute voting instructions for Friday the 14th and to bring others.
The Lavaca County Red Cross membership drive is on with a slightly delayed start. Contributions are requested to close the county quota and may be left at First National Bank Wolters Bros Bank or at J M Canon's office.
Tom Darilek, 20, was accidentally shot Saturday near Witting around 3 pm and rushed to the local hospital. By Tuesday he showed signs of consciousness, with the left side of his head torn by the discharge, rendering him deaf. later his right side became paralyzed. Miss Annie Winzig of Flatonia serves as special nurse. The gun accident occurred while he paused at a friend's home during a hunt and leaned over as his gun slipped, causing the injuries and his critical condition.
The Banjes Home Demonstration Club will meet in Shiner on December 17 at 1 30 P M at the home of Mrs Henry Goetz. Members are invited to attend and participate in the home demonstration session.
Public Schools will close Friday December 21 for Christmas holidays and reopen Wednesday January 2 1935.
Christmas Day and New Year Day are among the established holidays of the business firms of Shiner. Plan shopping accordingly.
The Women's Wesley Bible Class of the Methodist Sunday School sponsors a Christmas Eve carol singing event at 10 PM in front of the Methodist church. Everyone in town is welcome to join, with visits planned to homes in different town sections. For special visits or information call 70 Mrs. Gus Wolters, president of the class. All felt hats 50c and up at Ricky Ree Shop.
Rev Richard Schuetze invites parishioners to United Dr Luther Church for German and English services this Sunday. Sunday School at 9 30 a m Divine Service at 10 30 a m in German and 7 00 p m in English. Choir practice Wednesday and note of record attendance last Sunday.
Moravian Brethren Church announces Sunday services on December 16 led by Rev. F. H. Horak. Sunday School starts at 8:30 A M with church services at 9:00 A M.
A local shop announces new hot chocolate service at the Palace of Sweets. Patrons can enjoy warm beverages inside the shop, with a special low price noted as five cents for a limited time.
The Shiner Volunteer Fire Department announces its annual New Year's Eve Ball on Monday night December 31 held at Bluecher Park. Citizens turn out to support the fire boys, the year end event to boost their funds. Come out to watch the old year out and the new year in.
If weather allows, Welhausen Park hosts a Community Christmas Tree lighting next Sunday evening December 16 at 6 o'clock. Julius Schultz Band plays, Rev Richard Schuetze delivers brief address, Supt. T. H. McDonald speaks, Lamboletti performs What Lovely Infant Can This Be, Mendelssohn's High School Glee Club performs Hark the Herald Angels Sing, and the Community Song Holy Night Silent Night. Santa Claus arrives to give a small gift to children under ten.
The P T A holds its final meeting of the year today Thursday at 3 30 p m in the school building. A record attendance is desired.
The Victoria Junior College basketball team will face the local basketball squad this Saturday night at 7 45 at Shiner.
A special broadcast featuring the musical organizations of the Pythian Home will be heard next Sunday December 16 at 12:45 PM. The event provides Pythian members in Texas and friends a chance to enjoy their musical talent with a flying sky themed performance aboard the Palace venue.
The last meeting of the year for the Business Men's Club will be held at the Royal Cafe this Thursday at 7 o clock. County Agent Parks and County Demonstration agent Miss Pfluger will attend. A large attendance is desired. luncheon members should reserve by calling 55, Benno Holchak.

At the Wednesday meeting of December 6 the Shiner Fire Department elected officers for the ensuing year led by President Ed Herder and Chief Ad Richter. Peck Welhausen was named Assistant Chief and Treasurer, with John E. Valenta as Chief Mechanic, Foreman and Pumper. Other officers include W C Schmidt secretary Hy Hirsch foreman Hose Company Chas Kloss assistant foreman Hy See chief of Chemical and John E Kasper assistant foreman.
The Twentieth Century Club met on Thursday December 6 appointing Mesdames E C Wolters and H H Striebeck as December librarians. The program featured Pinero Man and Dramatist The Second Mrs Tanquaray presented by Mrs E A Busch and Mrs W G Stindt acted as reporter.

A December 3 kitchen shower for bride elect Julia Mae Macha hosted by Mrs. Wilson Macha featured a white and green decor in the Royal Cafe dining alcove. Guests wore house dresses, signed green cloth squares to form a quilt, and a green and white themed menu accompanied by a heart cake and gifts from a miniature kitchen display.
