Emil Zissa of Angleton felled a 5 pointer and his wife shot a spike back on Monday November 27 at Cherry Springs. The Laas Ranch Poor Boys Hunting Club lists deer: Rudy Kusak six pointer Felix Cerny six pointer Kenneth Tronicek four pointer Ad Kloesel three pointer James Roznovsky seven pointer Eugene Kloesel five pointer. Oscar Weber bagged a wolf on opening day but passed a trophy to keep hunters safe. With colder weather coming members anticipate a strong harvest before season end.
St Paul A and B girls basketball teams host Sheridan here on Tuesday December 12 at 6 pm in the Parish Gym.
Mrs J J Kolacny died November 28 1967 in San Antonio after a short illness at age 67. Funeral services were held December 1 at Buffington Funeral Home Shiner and Shiner Catholic Church with burial in Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Survivors include husband Jim J Kolacny two sons Victor and Adolph two daughters Elsie and Annie six grandchildren and several siblings.
The VA warns that income report cards will be sent with November pension checks to veterans widows and dependent parents receiving service connected disability. Cards must be returned by January 31 1968 or checks will be discontinued and may take 60 days to restore. VA Houston and San Antonio offices will assist with completion during weekday hours.
KJZT Union will observe its 70th anniversary Sunday December 10 at 2 30 p m at St Joseph s Church Yoakum with Rt Rev Msgr Alois J Morkovsky celebrant of the Mass His Excellency Most Rev Bishop John L Morkovsky will deliver the sermon in Czech and English All officers and members and their families and the Reverend Fathers of their parishes are invited to this memorable occasion.
A turkey shoot is set for Sunday December 10 at Gus's Place starting at 1:00 p.m. Participants should bring 12 16 and 20 gauge shotguns and shells are provided. Refreshments will be available. The event is on the Shiner Moulton Highway about 1.5 miles south of Moulton.
The Southern Pacific Company office in Shiner closed at end of business Tuesday November 7 1967 following a Railroad Commission of Texas authorization on May 22 1967 after May 15 hearings. Carload customers may call Yoakum at AX 3 2151 for service. less than carload and train schedules unaffected.

Ignac Pavlica Sr of Shiner died at 8 20 a m Tuesday November 21 1967 in Frank Wagner Memorial Hospital at age 77. He was a retired farmer. Burial followed Requiem Mass at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church with burial in Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Survived by two sons two daughters and six grandchildren.

The Shiner annual Christmas program and tree lighting start at 4:00 p.m. Friday December 8 at Welhausen Park with the Shiner High School Band directed by Nan Lewis. Van Lee Mathis, sentenced April 17 1967 in Lavaca County to two years for theft, is paroled after one year with good behavior credits. Parole followed Gov John Connally approval of the Pardons and Paroles Board recommendation. Mathis was convicted March 10 1967 of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and taking personal property.
Notice asks as many members of the Business Men's Club and the Chamber of Commerce to attend a packing session Thursday at 6 45 p m in the Chamber of Commerce room.
Funeral services for Frank Riebschlaeger were held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church Cuero with burial in Nordheim cemetery. He died November 27 1967 at age 63 and was survived by four brothers and three sisters many relatives attended from Shiner Runge and nearby towns. He had managed the Cozy Nook in Cuero and was known for his love of music and community involvement.
Dr. John Donaho Austin District Superintendent preached at the Sunday service in Shiner on December 3 1967 and assisted by Rev E M Jordan dedicated the new parsonage at 621 S Welhausen St Shiner after worship.

Reinholdt William Raab, 67, of 211 E Hart Ave San Antonio died Monday November 27 1967 at a San Antonio hospital Funeral services were held Thursday November 30 at 9 am with a Requiem Mass at 9 30 am in St Leo s Catholic Church Burial followed in San Fernando Cemetery No 2 Survivors include his wife two sons Edgar and Robert Lee a U S Army son in the Canal Zone five grandchildren and several siblings The family noted prior service as a bus driver for the San Antonio Transit Co.
Mrs. Sidonia C. Cocek 51 of Bellaire died Nov 7 1967 at 9am in Houston’s Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Rosary was recited at Earthman Southwest Chapel and funeral rites followed with pallbearers named. She was daughter of the late Mr and Mrs John Bolech of Yoakum and survived by two daughters in Houston one son in Viet Nam three grandsons two sisters and four brothers in Texas.
A newly erected parsonage bears a brass plaque commemorating Mrs Sophie Wolters for her generosity that inspired the building. The inscription reads in memory of her contributions.
The Shiner Chapter of the Junior Engineering Technical Society will sell Christmas trees next to Will Iford Drug after 4 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays. Proceeds benefit the local JETS College Scholarship Fund.

Funeral services for Mrs A W Albrecht of Flatonia were held Thursday November 30 1967 at Smith Funeral Home with Rev Henry Newmann officiating. Burial followed in Flatonia City Cemetery. She died November 28 1967 in Gonzales Crews Hospital at age 89 years 2 months and 2 days. She was born September 26 1878 in Moravia and married Anton William Albrecht April 2 1894. Survived by two sons two daughters 17 grandchildren 24 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
