Deer Harvest Report From Cher ry Springs Hunting Club

Emil Zissa of Angleton felled a 5 pointer and his wife shot a spike back on Monday November 27 at Cherry Springs. The Laas Ranch Poor Boys Hunting Club lists deer: Rudy Kusak six pointer Felix Cerny six pointer Kenneth Tronicek four pointer Ad Kloesel three pointer James Roznovsky seven pointer Eugene Kloesel five pointer. Oscar Weber bagged a wolf on opening day but passed a trophy to keep hunters safe. With colder weather coming members anticipate a strong harvest before season end.

Mrs J J Kolacny laid to rest in Shiner

Mrs J J Kolacny died November 28 1967 in San Antonio after a short illness at age 67. Funeral services were held December 1 at Buffington Funeral Home Shiner and Shiner Catholic Church with burial in Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Survivors include husband Jim J Kolacny two sons Victor and Adolph two daughters Elsie and Annie six grandchildren and several siblings.

Return Income Questionnaires To VA Immediately

The VA warns that income report cards will be sent with November pension checks to veterans widows and dependent parents receiving service connected disability. Turkey Shoot at Gus's Place on December 10

A turkey shoot is set for Sunday December 10 at Gus's Place starting at 1:00 p.m. Participants should bring 12 16 and 20 gauge shotguns and shells are provided. Refreshments will be available. The event is on the Shiner Moulton Highway about 1.5 miles south of Moulton.

Southern Pacific closes Shiner agency after Texas ruling

The Southern Pacific Company office in Shiner closed at end of business Tuesday November 7 1967 following a Railroad Commission of Texas authorization on May 22 1967 after May 15 hearings. Carload customers may call Yoakum at AX 3 2151 for service. less than carload and train schedules unaffected.

Paroled Texas Man Van Lee Mathis to Lavaca County

Van Lee Mathis, sentenced April 17 1967 in Lavaca County to two years for theft, is paroled after one year with good behavior credits. Parole followed Gov John Connally approval of the Pardons and Paroles Board recommendation. Mathis was convicted March 10 1967 of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and taking personal property.

Rites Held For F Riebschlaeger In Cuero Church

Funeral services for Frank Riebschlaeger were held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church Cuero with burial in Nordheim cemetery. He died November 27 1967 at age 63 and was survived by four brothers and three sisters many relatives attended from Shiner Runge and nearby towns. He had managed the Cozy Nook in Cuero and was known for his love of music and community involvement.

Funeral services for Mrs A W Albrecht of Flatonia were held Thursday November 30 1967 at Smith Funeral Home with Rev Henry Newmann officiating. Burial followed in Flatonia City Cemetery. She died November 28 1967 in Gonzales Crews Hospital at age 89 years 2 months and 2 days. She was born September 26 1878 in Moravia and married Anton William Albrecht April 2 1894.
