Mrs. Tom J. Pesek aged 71 years 11 months 24 days of Jourdanton died August 17 1963 after illness. Funeral at St Matthew Church Jourdanton August 19 with burial in the local cemetery. Survived by husband 12 children A J Kallus and siblings and 38 grandchildren.

Scrimmage Rescheduled Sheridan Versus Comanches on Friday
The scrimmage originally set for Thursday August 29 between Sheridan and the Comanches moved to Friday August 30 at 7 30 p m on Comanche Field. Mrs Benno Holchak returned to Houston with Herbert Holchak Jr to visit Benno who is having a general check up at Southern Pacific Hospital.

Gin Fire Damages 14 Cotton Bales at Weimar
Fourteen bales of cotton on a trailer outside the Seifert gin at Weimar were damaged by a spark Monday afternoon August 12. The fire spread to loose cotton and bagging but was quickly controlled by firemen using “wet water.” By mid morning August 14 the gin had ginned 1291 bales of 1963 cotton with about 20 more waiting. The season is described as short and nearing its peak. The Social Security Act was signed into law on August 14, 1935, and now provides monthly benefits for 18 million Americans and insurance protection for 9 out of 10 workers.

Last Rites for Lynn J. Uleak
Lynn John Uleak a 64 year old resident of Moulton died August 16 at Frank Wagner Memorial Hospital Shiner after a months long illness. Funeral services were held at Kabena Funeral Home Hallettsville and at St Marys Church west of Hallettsville with Rev Henry Psencik officiating. Interment followed in St Marys Cemetery. He was born February 24 1899 in Hallettsville and later lived in Moulton six months. He was a laborer employed by a Gonzales Company at his death. Surviving are four brothers Julius Shiner Fred Yoakum Joe Houston John Corpus Christi and four sisters Mary Kurtz Shiner Louise Kubicek Moulton Annie Janecek Moulton and Matilda Migl Corpus Christi. One brother preceded him in death.

The sales ladies reopen the rummage sale on Saturday August 24 with a donation hour Friday August 23 from 9 to 10 a.m. to mark prices and display items. The sale runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Death Takes Gonzales Oilman
Austin P. Peirce Jr. a Gonzales oil lease and royalty broker died at Holmes Memorial Hospital at 4 55 p m on Wednesday. Funeral services were held Friday at Seydler Funeral Home with Rev Charles B Fraser Jr officiating and burial at Gonzales Memorial Park. He was born July 6 1886 in Armour South Dakota and survived by a daughter a grandson a granddaughter two sisters and several petroleum industry memberships including Houston and San Antonio Petroleum Clubs and the American Petroleum Association of Land Men.
