Chovanetz Auto Trip Ends After 6000 Miles

Mr and Mrs Chas Chovanetz returned from a six thousand mile educational auto tour through the north and east. They left Shiner June 23 and reached home August 14 after visiting Notre Dame Columbia Princeton and Niagara Falls totaling eighty dollars in car expenses. They traveled on paved roads and met heat and cool waves like Texas and visited relatives at the National Capitol.

P T A Meeting At City Hall Aug 18 With Twelve Attendees

The P T A held its regular meeting at City Hall on Aug 18 with twelve members present. Miss Emma Rank presided as president. The association aims for a profitable year as the ways and means committee plans an interesting program to maintain its $308 balance. Committees were named for the teacher reception. Mrs William Wendtland Jr and Mrs J C Blohm joined the program committee while Mrs O A Dreyer and Mrs Hugh Koether handle refreshments. Next meeting set for Sept 10 in the High School Auditorium.

Trades Day Plans Now Being Carried Out

The Shiner Business Men's Club met for a noon luncheon at the Royal Cafe with 31 members present. An amendment to the constitution affecting section 14, filed by Peck Welhausen, was read and may be voted on August 27. Welhausen and Frank Rubin reported on the Traves Day committee plans and a night meeting at City Hall was scheduled to discuss details and rules. All local business firms were urged to send representatives.
