Special Election For Mayor Of Shiner May 10 1932

A special Shiner Texas city council meeting on April 25 1932 ordered a special mayoral election for Tuesday May 10 to fill the vacancy caused by E Runk’s death. Polls run 8am to 6pm at the old City Hall with Judge F R Mergenthaler in charge. candidates must file by May 5 1932 with City Secretary J M Canon. Yorktown to Lose Day Passenger Trains for Mixed Service

Secretary Paul A Schmidt of the chamber of commerce said the railroad commission approved the T and N O Railway application to discontinue day passenger trains and run mixed trains instead. The change takes effect not earlier than April 24 1932, ending a protracted battle by local business and shipping interests to maintain the service.
