District Masonic Bicentennial Celebration in Moulton Tex

The Moulton area hosts a district-wide Bicentennial meeting on April 24 1976 at 7 30 p m in the American Legion Hall. Rt Worshipful R W Lamb Grand Junior Warden will deliver the Bicentennial message with entertainment by the Arabia Shrine Band. A flag ceremony opens the event followed by a barbecue beef dinner for 3 00 per person. Contact Fred Pietsch by April 20 to attend.

Continental Ball Celebrates Birthday and Club Anniversary

The Shiner Modern Dance Club coordinates a gala Continental Ball on April 24 1976 at the American Legion Hall Shiner to celebrate the USA 200th Birthday and the club’s 30th anniversary. Lee Kohlenberg Orchestra from Austin will play from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. A costumed Honor Guard and patriotic decorations will set the scene for a special guest presentation.

Shiner Stores to Close at Noon on Good Friday

Shiner business houses will close at noon Friday April 16 for Good Friday observance per Shiner Chamber of Commerce. Stores reopen Saturday morning. Public asked to shop accordingly and attend church services. First National Bank will also close at noon.

Clippers Finish Second In Seventh Annual Shiner Tourney

The Shiner Clippers lost the championship to Schulenburg Merchants 9-0, finishing second as Schulenburg claimed the cup and $100. Shiner earned $50 and the runner-up trophy. Yoakum Merchants beat Victoria Independent 7-4 in the consolation final for $25, while Flatonia Wildcats defeated Victoria Knights 3-2 for third place and trophy.

Funeral rites Wednesday for Irene Slovacek

Funeral services set for 3 p.m. Wednesday April 14 at Sweet Home Catholic Church for Irene Slovacek 38 of Route 4 Hallettsville. Burial in church cemetery. Body rests at Kubena Funeral Home Hallettsville until 1 30 p.m. then taken to church. She died Tuesday April 13 1976 at Citizens Memorial Hospital Victoria. Complete obituary next week.
