Miss Ernestine Mergenthaler’s class won, including Evelyn Dreyer, Bessie Sommerlitte, Vera Kasper, Mila Nera, Bressmann, Ruby Rogge, and Gladys Rosge.
Zane Grey starts a new serial titled The Day of the Beast in Country Gentleman with a subscription price of one dollar a year. Subscriptions are handled by Leonide Schuhman at Farmers Bank in the prompt offer.
The Crystal Cife has been sold to Messrs Willie Macha and Alford Hinze. They plan to move it next to the post office where they are now ready to begin business.

Harry Kloss accused of theft from J P court No 8 Shiner was tried without a jury and pleaded guilty. The court imposed a fine of 10 dollars and one day in jail.
Saturday evening entertained Seniors with Juniors as hosts at Mr. and Mrs. Theo Rogge. Vlasta Hajek won 11 of 12 Hearts games while Oswald Kasper took the other. Postponed District Meet announced as guests depart after cake and punch.
Seniors persuade Freshmen to take a day off on April 8 1922 as part of a plan. The Senior Class aims to stage a three act college farce in about five weeks under the direction of Miss Barton, with an estimated 380 characters.
In a local school election Edgar Wolters led with 63 votes while Mrs Edna Welhausen and Mrs I Thulemeyer received 46 and 47 respectively. Other candidates Otto Dreyer Theo Rgge and H OH Striebeck trailed with 14 11 5 votes. Mrs Joe Bushs and Arthur Dreyer each polled 1 vote.
Church invites parishioners to Sunday services on April 9 with morning at 915 am and evening at 1020 pm. Luther Leagns leads at 730 am. Midweek prayer service occurs each Wednesday at 715 pm. Pastor Wolfsdorf signs the invite.
The Scholastic Census of Shiner Independent School District for 1922 lists White children 240 and Colored 65, total 403. The last census seated 3387, an increase of 18 children this year. J M Canon census enumerator.
Mr John G Hollman returned to Barentain Mexico last Sunday after a visit to his father.
The Liberty Theatre announces Robertson-Cole’s Picturation of Mesh featuring Skinner in a remarkable motion picture billed as the greatest production in picture history. It promises exquisite artistry and breathtaking beauty with superb characterizations. The $2 attraction will be shown at regular Liberty prices, 10c and 25c, for Monday and Tuesday, April 10th and 11th.
Frank Mueck faced murder charges for Frank Bilaka in a District Court trial. Prosecutor Horace Duncan, aided by Bagby and Ellis, prosecuted, with Mueck defended by H. B. Paulus of Yoakum. Mueck was convicted and sentenced to 25 years in the penitentiary. Ludwig Cizek faces rape charges with a jury pool of 60 veniremen ordered for next Monday April 8.
The Commercial Club holds a regular meeting Thursday night to hear the secretary report for the year and to elect officers. Attendees are invited to learn what the group is doing for the city and to support the ongoing good work.
