Cost per vote in Hamilton County tops forty-five cents
Noblesville Indiana September 22 1922 figures from the Hamilton county courthouse show an average cost of 45.5 cents per vote cast in last week’s referendum on state constitution amendments. County Clerk records tally 2666 votes and claims totaling 1209.60 were paid to election officials, with most precincts polling under fifty voters. Long counting days led to some overtime pay and extended work hours for inspectors judges and clerks.

Eagletown Women Injured Returning From Fort Harrison
Mrs Nancy Hinshaw and her daughter Mrs Norma Stout of Eagletown were injured in a Sunday automobile crash on the way to Fort Benjamin Harrison and are hospitalized in Indianapolis. Also injured was Mrs Elsie Gordon who was able to go home. They rode with Newlin Stewart in a car carrying the local W C T U unit. The Stewart vehicle was struck by another car whose driver remained unidentified.

Funeral of Horatio B. Wiles Held at East Union
Horatio B. Wiles, an Adams township pioneer, died at his daughter’s home near Sheridan Thursday night in his eighty sixth year. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon with Rev. George D. Foster of Tipton officiating. His wife died last spring. Survived by children Rev. O. N. Wiles, Ora, Dora, Jess, Omer, W. M., Joe Wiles, and Mrs. Hershman.

Walter Eubanks Buried by Oak Hill After World War I Loss
The remains of Walter Eubanks killed in France at the battle of Romane on October 9, 1918 were buried at Oak Hill cemetery. He was the son of Marion Eubanks near Kirklin and served in Co. I 388th Infantry, part of the third division. Rev. M. M. Wiles led services at Sugar Creek church with the local American Legion post and the I O O F lodge taking part.

Gridiron Season Opens Saturday in Sheridan
The Cathedral high school of Indianapolis meets the Black and White eleven at Compton's Park on Saturday at 2 PM. This game, one of only a few at home this season, kicks off Sheridan's gridiron campaign with a hoped for state championship run.
Duroc Sow Sale Brings Strong Bids and High Top
W. A. Stephenson sold fifty Duroc sows and spring boars Wednesday to a large crowd with spirited bidding. The top price reached 76 dollars for a sow and most animals went to local farmers who praised the sale as very satisfactory.

Ulysses Mosier of the Providence church area is wounded by a 52 caliber revolver shot by 16 year old Lloyd Linton in Noblesville. The assailant, a Noblesville High sophomore, fled after the incident sparked by a dispute over a romance with Wilma Mosier. The victim's spinal injury threatens paralysis pending possible surgery in Indianapolis.

Funeral honors for Cecil Pickard at Pickard Holiness Church
The Sheridan post of the American Legion provided the firing squad for Cecil Pickard's military funeral held Sunday at the Pickard Holiness Church. Rev. G. D. Foster of Tipton preached the sermon. A Tipton post squad led by Capt. Mount attended. Pickard was killed in France on October 6, 1918, the day before his cousin Walter Eubanks died. This was among the largest funerals ever held in Pickard.

Appointed to Federal Board arrives in Boulder
J. W. Kirk, recently named coordinator of federal board men at the University, arrived in Boulder this week to organize his year. He succeeds W. J. Shirley, who left for Fitzsimons General Hospital. Kirk comes from the Denver district office and expects a large year in school board matters with about 400 schools to be judged, following 300 last year. He previously ran Sheridan Indiana schools.
