Odd Fellows Parade Mishap and Big Sheridan Delegation

A large Local Lodge of Odd Fellows attended the National Encampment and Sovereign Grand Lodge meeting with the Sheridan Band leading the parade. A misdirection left the Sheridan delegation out of place until Cr. Eliott redirected them, creating one of the largest parade crowds in Indianapolis.

United Brethren Conference Attendees At Lebanon

The Upper Wabash Annual Conference of the United Brethren Church met in Lebanon last week with attendees including Mr. and Mrs. Henry Timmons Sr and Mrs. Emily McMurtry from this place. Rev L P R Tramilton, pastor at Terhune, was reassigned to West Lafayette. Rev Lewis of Illinois becomes Terhune Circuit pastor. Adams Township Sunday Schools passed a resolution decrying the president’s death as a national calamity and pledging to Christianize youth to curb crime. Soldiers’ Reunion announced for October 3-4 in Warren, Indiana. Pearson sells a full line of building materials.

Memorial Services Mark McKinley Death in Sheridan

William McKinley died on September 14 after wounds from an assassin. Sheridan held memorial exercises in M F E church with prayers, Roosevelt proclamation readings, and biographical tributes by local leaders. Veterans, rural mail carriers, and post office workers attended as church bells tolled at noon.

Sheridan Defeated Again By Arcadia In Rough Season Finale

The local baseball team suffered a home defeat last Thursday against Arcadia in a well played game likely the season’s final. Sheridan lineup included Williamson, Shannon, Kercheval, Abbott, Vox, Lovell, Dwiging, Stephenson, Jolson, McGinley, with Williamson on the mound. Arcadia featured Miller, Cowell, McLaughlin, Whippell, Curtis, Barnett. Umpire Dean called the game in 1 hour 55 minutes as Arcadia won 4 to 8.

W E H Franklin was jailed by Marshal Timmons after a judgment for 150 dollars plus costs in Clerk MacMath's court for selling beer by the drink without a town license. He refused to pay or settle and says he intends to obtain the license by laying it out.
