Town Board Approves Levy and Sidewalk Petitions
The town board met in regular session approving minutes and paying bills including Sheridan Milling Co and Fort Wayne Electric Co. The 1903 levy was set with reductions from 1902 and school levy unchanged. Petitions for cement sidewalks on Main street east side and gravel sidewalks in Cox addition were granted with ordinances to follow. Farmers National Bank offered to purchase about $2290 in sewer bonds at par. Board adjourned.

Falls Into Cellar Fatal Injury Incident
Mrs. Sherwood Carney aged 76 visiting her niece Mrs. Ed Underwood on Mona day fell into an open cellar door breaking bones and suffering internal injuries likely to prove fatal due to age. The Carneys are longtime respected farmers southeast of town.

Races at Fairgrounds Draw Crowd on Pleasant Afternoon
Last Friday at the fairgrounds a large crowd enjoyed racing with ideal weather. Four entries started the two year old race won by Roberta a filly owned and driven by Charley Johnson Noblesville with a 3 16 best time. The 2 40 trot had three Grattan horses led by Nichols Golden Grattan in 2 40. Ed Foust won the road race with his brown pacer in 1 21. Gramattan driven by J A McIntire finished the mile in 2 48 while Fernland with Pat Orr posted 2 20 and could have gone faster.

Missionary Lectures at M E Church This Week
A series of three lectures was held Tuesday through Thursday at the M E church, delivered by nearby pastors on the great missionary work. Rev J E Ervio of Cicero spoke on America as an Open Door Mission, noting 4800 missionaries in the U S and 1850 in Chicago and New York, with work ahead in western and southern regions. Rev E Myers of Joliet discussed The Negro and African Civilization, arguing that education alone cannot solve the negro question and that Christian influence through Jesus Christ is needed. Rev Morris of Arcadia gave the final address, described as earnest and forceful.

Big Joe Grimes Dies After Cab Accident
Big Joe Grimes, claimed to be the world’s largest man at 754 pounds and 34, died at his parents’ Cincinnati home last Saturday from heart trouble and injuries after a cab accident. He stood six feet four inches and had recently toured with an amusement group. his death followed injuries suffered at Mishawaka Indiana. He was linked to Mrs. R. S. Fristoe of Sheridan and had married in Atlanta.
