Noblesville Busy Week Ahead as County Officials Plan

In Noblesville the Auditor Griffin and deputy Arlie Hutchens push work ahead of a busy week. County action includes a tax collection push by John Bauchert and plans to spend funds on county government expenses for 1912. Town Street Fair Details Finalized For October 4 5 6 7

Merchants held a meeting Monday night to refine the street fair schedule for October 4 5 6 7. Reports from committees were favorable and new committees were appointed. Plans emphasize a dairy products and cattle department and a Packing Company crops display with tomatoes corn and peas.

Holstein herd sale from Elgin district brings solid prices

Twenty four head of Holstein cows from Elgin Illinois were sold at the mule barn Saturday at satisfactory figures. Some cattle fetched as high as 110 dollars while others brought just over 50 dollars, averaging about 70 dollars for the entire herd. Bert Parr drove the lot here after buying it on a Elgin district trip last week. More loads are expected this fall.

Farmer says his note was stolen

A farm hand on the Irvin Cox farm near Gray allegedly swindled $150 by selling a note signed by Vint McKinzie and endorsed by Irvin Cox. The buyer’s suspicions grew after a letter and banking steps, leading to questions about the transfer and the note’s genuineness.

Old Settlers Meet at Goldsmith Saturday

The Goldsmith Old Settlers gathering occurs this Saturday with Hon. Sam Ralston of Lebanon as principal speaker and M. L. Teter of Sheridan delivering the memorial address. Rev. E. M. Montgomery and Hon. J. A. Sweveland also on the program. Hicks forecasts a stormy September with equinoctial disturbances.

Permanent Sheridan Lyceum formed for winter program

The Sheridan Oyceum Association, formed Friday evening, adopts the Lyceum as a permanent winter lecture and entertainment course. Officers include Rev. Wm. Elmer Payne as president and L. W. Cox as vice president. The first fall program features the Jubilee Singers on October 26.

Soverign Grand Lodge Parade Draws Indiana Odd Fellows

Hamilton County and Indiana Odd Fellows prepare for the Sovereign Grand Lodge meeting in Indianapolis starting September 18. The September 20 parade will include members from across the state and nation with Lodges No. 69 and county lodges in Division No. 58 marching on Est St. Joseph street near Meridian, led by Chief Marshall C. Weighing Incoming Mail Again At Local Post Office

Beginning last Saturday the local post office weighs all incoming mail. Postmaster Newby received the order last week. Railroads complained of light mail and the weighing may be part of a new rate plan for magazines and newspapers. The extra weighing increases work and slows delivery.

First Maiden Trips Of Hoosier Limited Trains

The Hoosier Limiteds on the Monon ran their maiden passenger trips Sunday with well filled cars. Trains passed through at 3 45 and 3 58, with about twenty locals riding to the city on the first run. Southbound from Sheridan 3 45, northbound 3 58, they meet at Terhune four miles north.
