Local Teacher In The Call For War Service
Earl Freeman newly elected instructor in Sheridan schools was called to Lebanon for examination yesterday. Freeman a Boone county resident and unmarried, is about halfway through the line and expected to be deferred. If accepted he would retain his post until going out for active service. Also within the conscription age are Mr. Martin second ward principal and Mr. Huffine of the high school.

Sheridan to Strictly Enforce Curfew and Fire Safety
The Sheridan town board urged the Marshal to enforce the curfew ordinance even if it means placing youths in jail and to ensure all vaults are cleaned with costs charged to the property owner. Residents advocated smoke control for plants burning soft coal and officials will study costs and advisability. The Marshal was also told to close any houses of ill fame if found operating.

Mrs Thomas Newby Passes After Cancer Battle
Mrs T H Newby fifty four of the Deming neighborhood died Saturday from stomach cancer after months of ill health. Her husband Mr Newby died last summer. Funeral services were held at Hinkle Creek church Monday with Rev Commons officiating.

Dairy Cattle Show Set by Sheridan Dairy Association
The Sheridan Dairy Association will hold a Dairy Cattle Show on Saturday September 8 at Palmer's Livery Barn starting at 1 pm. There will be seven bull classes and six cow and heifer classes with $115 in money and $40 in trophies plus first second and third prize ribbons.
