Mail clerk survives dramatic fall between moving trains

Bard a Cincinnati division postal clerk on the Cincinnati Chicago Mail line fell from a moving train at Broad Ripple Indiana after the safety bar broke. He landed in a ditch and was bruised but conscious and walked back to work soon after. He reports four train impacts and says he expects to resume work in a week or ten days.

School Notes On Book Sales And Ward Meetings

Another Good Colt Bought by Wainscott

W A Wainscott returned Saturday from the southern part of the state with a two year old bay colt purchased from Wainscott & Spencer. The horse carries bloodlines Robert McGregor Onward Red Wilkes and Electioneer and is described as well broke gentle and one of the best horses in the county.

The Fight Against the Saloon License in Sheridan

John McCarty and W F Fisher applied for a saloon license in Sheridan. Remonstrances were filed with County Commissioners and will be counted today to decide license approval. Sheridan residents will pay 25 cents per thousand cubic feet for gas this winter. The gas company has added new wells to its plant and expects reliable service. An information session is held tonight at the House.
