The ad promotes a second year in business offering a line of shoes for men and women, felt boots, rubbers and Arctics. It invites customers to visit the store to see a selection and promises pleased customers as advertisers.
The advertisement notes the largest lot of mould ing shipped to Sheridan is now at Clayton E Cox's repair shop. It claims frames are priced to match pre raise, with large 16x20 frames for enlargements available at bargain prices if sold soon. The shop offers repair, make and upholstery of furniture.
Ralph E Pearson of Sheridan announces bid for Republican nomination to the Indiana State Legislature representing Hamilton County. A lawyer with Pearson & Pearson offices in Sheridan and Noblesville, he is son of Albert C Pearson and grandson of Phineas G Pearson a noted Hamilton County citizen and temperance advocate. Pearson holds an L L B from Indiana University and studied constitutional law and statutes interpretation. He calls for anti graft laws and temperance measures, urging youth and new ideas in the House and endorsing Roosevelt Hanly and Judge Artman reform positions.
The Couch grocery store was entered Wednesday night and a 50 pound cash register taken and damaged. It was found Thursday morning on the railroad between California and Second street, opened by prying the top. about six dollars and a cent remained in the box. No clues, local talent suspected.
A meeting of local poultrymen was held Monday night to finalize the catalogue for the coming show to be held the week of February 10 17 after the Indianapolis state show. Interest is stronger than last year and good weather may bring more entries. Fire on the roof near the chimney at Kev McIntosh’s residence in the northwest part of town was started by falling sparks from soot cleaning compounds. Neighbors’ prompt aid prevented a serious loss though the roof suffered some damage and minor injuries occurred.
Monday saw staff changes as Arthur Mullen moved from the Golden Rule to Pettijohn's. Albert Holmes left Hutchens for the Golden Rule, George Gary and Harry Evans swapped roles at Fausset, and Rural Carriers enjoyed a holiday with no mail delivery on routes.
E. T. Williams traveled to Philadelphia to discuss leading a drilling crew for Barber Asphalt Co. The firm, a major U S and South American player, offered him a yearlong post with potential advancement. If accepted, he would leave his Sheridan family for the duration and may later be sent to Trinidad B A.
The Floodwood Michigan hunting party returns after three weeks with eleven deer killed. Six deer are brought home and venison will feed the hunters. Weather was favorable with light snow aiding the chase. two members were ill for part of the trip. Hare and Graves found three bucks. Hare’s first shot dropped one while two others escaped after rapid fire.
Special to the News reports Ray Moon, a resident near Eagletown, arrested by Sheriff Randall on two grand jury indictments alleging sale of liquor without a license. Bond set at 300 each, with Luther Bush and L. R. Stout as sureties, released. Prosecutor Gentry aims to curb bootlegging in west Washington township as other locals face similar charges.
