The court finds Everett Newby not guilty of selling liquor without a license in Judge Neal's court. The appeal from Squire Scott upheld a prior $20 fine, while the commissioners' revocation of Wilbur Fisher's license is ruled beyond their jurisdiction. Attorneys argue for Circuit Court action on fraud in publication.
Local resident D. J. McMath was surprised Monday to receive an express package at the depot labeled from Guilford County North Carolina. Opening the box he found a fine young possum and shared his thanks with friends, hoping for a Thanksgiving feast featuring persimmons.
Ilton Davis, proprietor of the Hotel in Lebanon, loses 45 dollars after a stranger posing as J. N. Evans uses a forged check. The impostor, claiming to work for Frank Coffee and Spice Co. Cincinnati, escapes after Davis signs the check to the scammer. A Cincinnati firm says no such representative as J. N. Jes exists and the check is forged. Davis suffers the loss when the Bank could not cash the check due to bad identification. The County Council in auditors office elected Milton Hansen president and C. J. McCole vice president, convening a Republican board. They approved minor appropriations, including 94 dollars for the truancy officer and court expenses in a venue-change case, to be repaid by Marion County.
The Home Steam Laundry of Clem ents' Brothers closed Saturday and shipped machinery to Linton. Established three years ago by Guy Gus and Holly Clements the business served a growing town in Green County Indiana. Guy will relocate his family once a dwelling is secured. Best wishes are extended to their future venture.

County Superintendent Hutchens and Truant officer A J Frybarger filed affidavits in Squire Moore's court against Ben Harris and Clint Belles for not sending their boys to school after a week of inspections in Sheridan and Adams townships. The outgoing township trustee settled with the advisory board, and Pettijohn began duties at the trustees office while using Stout and Wutcheno's clothing as a business HQ. The Union Aid Society seeks Thanksgiving donations with wood aid and schoolhouse collection the day before Thanksgiving.
Fred Moore son of S W and Phebe J Moore was born September 17 1882 and died November 18 1900 at age 18 years 2 months 1 day. Funeral at the parents home on South Main Street at 10 o’clock Tuesday with sermon by Eld C O Burton from First Thessalonians 4:13 Interment Spicewood Cemetery. Other items note local social and church notices and brief movements of Sheridan residents and families.
