Boy Shot On Halloween Night In Alley Incident
James Biftle a twelve year old boy living with his grandparents was shot in the hip by Ed Burkett during a Halloween night incident. Burkett was arrested for assault and battery and his trial is set for tomorrow morning. Various accounts blame the shooting on disputed claims about protecting property and frightening the youths.

The town board held a regular meeting in the Council Chamber with all members present except Clerk McMurtry who was absent due to a sick family. Attorney Gritin recorded minutes in the clerk’s absence and most bills were laid over until next meeting. salaries were approved for Henderson Carter McMurtry Timmons and Robbins. Georgia street improvement petition again postponed for a later meeting. Printing of sewer bonds discussed with bid terms pending clarification.
