A 1915 Noblesville item notes tax payment drafts from a Gant's Bass bank without clear payer IDs, and H Cardwell faces unclear accounts. It also covers Frank P. Weaver v American Strawboard Co and a Doaty arrest with forged notes and pending replevin actions.
George K E Burton, son of Mr and Mrs H A Burton, is elected superintendent of schools for Tilden township Marquette county Michigan overseeing three schools and fifteen teachers. He now teaches at Ishpeming high school and has years of experience in Indiana Illinois and Michigan education and geology work with U S Geological Survey and Cleveland Cliffs Mining Company. The Mining Journal lauds him as thoroughly competent and popular with students.
Eighty one Hamilton county bankers met in Sheridan for the second annual association meeting. Officers and directors from fifteen banks attended, with a banquet served by the Dorcas society. The program included talks on the Federal Reserve system and officer responsibility. Officers for the next year were J. E. Kercheval President W. E. Dunon Vice President N. W. Cowgill Secretary E. E. Myers Treasurer. The next gathering will be in Jackson township with date and place announced later.
Farmers in Sheridan report wool prices at thirty cents a pound with thirty four cents the record high in this territory yet the wool clip is scarce. Previously 20000 to 40000 pounds a year, this season will see less than 10000 pounds sold due to war effects embargoes and the decline of sheep farming.
A rabies scare surrounds Westfield and Carmel due to two suspected mad dogs in the area. Several bite incidents involve Ed Mabrey’s grandson and others, with treatments planned and dog heads sent to Indianapolis for examination. Medical authorities note the disease can take up to 40 days to develop.
At a young folks gathering at the Alice Poe home south of Boxley Saturday night Clem Vickery suffered a broken cheek bone in a head on collision between two couples. He was taken to Indianapolis for treatment where the wound was dressed.
Commencement exercises for Jolietville and Eagletown schools set for Saturday at Jolietville M E Church. Jolietville graduates are Hobart Barker Leo Cecil Carson Floyd Ardra Carson Conza Glee Edwards Merle Bernice Wade Edna Ruth Kolb Lottie Pearl Batts Vern Hadley. Eagletown graduates are Roy Perkins Bess ie Stanbrough and Ethel Rich.
Local residents plan to attend the upcoming Indianapolis event. The Indianapolis 500 marks its fifth running with 25 drivers entered to compete on Saturday.
