Board of Review to Convene in Noblesville June 6

County Auditor W G Horton calls for the annual Board of Review session in Noblesville starting June 6 and lasting thirty days. The board includes Horton, the treasurer and assessor, plus two circuit court appointees John Durflinger and Robert Follett. They will audit township listings, adjust irregularities, hear taxpayer grievances, and allow appeals to the state board if needed. The report also covers a separate case involving Susan Hancock and the Indiana Union Traction Co, plus a torn trial note about the American National Bank of Noblesville versus William G Brown and the Cicero bank failure. Special Judge Phil Fariss heard evidence on Saturday.

Sheridan High School Loses State Track Title After Controversy

Sheridan High School failed to win as Richardson was barred from the 100 yard dash despite qualifying in the morning. He withdrew from the 220 and skipped the discus and broad jump, while Williams set a state shot put record at 45 feet 11 3/4 inches. The team finished tied for fourth with Technical Franklin, North Salem and Rochester as the meet faced poor handling by the college sponsor.

Three Young Men Arrested in Ekin Store Burglary

Robert Smith Harrison Smith and Loren McMunn were arrested Tuesday morning by Sheriff Waddell and jailed in Noblesville. They face charges of breaking into a restaurant in Ekin owned by Everett Hodson and stealing cigars and tobacco. Rain aided officers in tracing the youths home. A garage search in Tipton County yielded more stolen goods with help from Marshal A C Jackson of Atlanta.

Teachers Named for Coming School Term

The Board of Education lists high and grade school staff for the upcoming year. J W Teter leads high school math history and athletics, with V Kercheval as principal math science, and Jeanette Edwards as musical supervisor. Grades and janitors are filled by Della Pogue Letha Kercheval Tosecce Greay Stela Dunn Grace Hanson Fern Branson Edith Cox Ada Plew Arthur Mullen Guy Kine. No mid winter promotions in high school next winter. Sheridan schools start September 1. Indiana Condensed Milk Co sets June milk price at 1 35 per 100 pounds for four percent milk, costing farmers an extra 15 cents over last June.

News Office to Close on Decoration Day

The News office will be closed all day May 30 for Decoration Day. Respondents advertisers and the public are asked to note the one day closure and other local businesses plan similar one day rest.

A strong downpour fell a few miles south of Sheridan Monday evening with heavy rain also reported along the southern edge of Tipton County. Sheridan itself saw only a light shower as the storm appeared to bypass the town.
