Hamilton County franchise sought for traction line through Noblesville

Noblesville May 25 1911 Johnson president of the Circuit Terminal Company requests a franchise before the County Commissioners at the June session to build a traction line through Hamilton county from Sheridan to Noblesville to Greenfield via Clarksville or Fortville. The plan may target the Greenfield Pike for right of way and faces local road-use limits. The county board of review opens June 6 and will run thirty days with rules to be posted. several officials sit on the board. Also noted are civil cases filed in circuit court including a $25000 damages suit by a Indianapolis woman against the Indianapolis Traction and Pennsylvania Railroad for injuries from a 1909 crossing collision. other docket entries include guardianship and property actions.

Sheridan School Board Delays Superintendent Selection

The Sheridan school board has not chosen a superintendent yet and aims to decide within days. The applicant list has been narrowed from about nine to seven or eight with rapid eliminations. Many candidates have withdrawn to take positions elsewhere, with publication of the teacher list expected next week.

First Band Concert Opens Summer Series on Main and Third

Remains of Walter Hickson Honorably Buried in Bethel Cemetery

Walter Hickson, 57, died of pulmonary tuberculosis likely during a hem orrage at his home in Chicago. His body was brought home, then taken to Bethel cemetery for interment after funeral services led by Rev. Burns. He headed the Hickson Brass and Iron Bed Company sales room, with brother Ed as president. The Hickson family had lived in this community and later Muncie. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and survived by a mother, a brother and two wives.
